Has anyone used Neem Oil for mud fever? What else have you used it for? Some one has recommended it and I have no experience of it at all. :) Will it help itchy skin too? :confused:

My son tried Neem oil on his eczema and the foul smell was just something else. I am still rewashing clothes he wore when he tried it - it is quite vile.
 
This was discussed last week, remember a site being given that does Equine products.
I have been in touch with the lady and am going to order some Shampoo, she does dog products too, so you might want to do a search on here?
 
The smell is a bit ewww, but I put it in everything for the horse... some citronella shampoo, cocoa butter etc. I tend not to use it neat because of the smell.
 
I love the stuff enough to suffer the smell!

I use if for
Dogs, bathing them in it every 3 - 4 weeks to keep fleas and ticks away.
Canker in their ears.

Horses Mud fever, sweet itch, keeping flies away.

Garden keeps greenfly away, slugs and snails and cabbage white butterflies off the cabbages!

I started using it about 4 years ago when I had an undiagnosed skin problem. The itching drove me bonkers (more so than normal) and I purchased a cream which didn't small at all, from The Neem Team. It worked and stopped the itching.
I will say that having this problem made me exceedingly sympathetic towards horses with sweet itch!

I mix 5 ml Neem, 3 ml liquid soap with 1 litre of hot water. I fill a large skip with the solution and dunk the dogs, what is left, which is quite a lot, gets put on the garden so none is wasted.

Oh, I also dunk the hens as they had a bad infection of Red Mite which will kill the birds. It is a devil to get rid of and I had tried all sorts of chemical solutions to no avail, the mites were back in a couple of weeks. I did the birds with the Neem solution (Hens dislike being dunked more than the dogs!) and that was the end of the mites for all of last summer - though I did do them a couple of times even though there was no sign of infection.
 
It sort of smells like fried onions/perspiration but really strong. I use it for all sorts of things. I bought a litre of neem and coconut oil shampoo which smells lovely and can be used on all animals.
 
The smell is no too bad considering how effective it is. I have used it on mudfever. All four legs got infected and I thought it would be really difficult to clear but I used neem oil neat once a day and it cleared up in just over a week!
Some girls on the yard swear it as stopped the sweetitch too. Try this site it has lots of neem products and shampoos. www.pro-equine.com.
 
It smells like rotten onions, and is really penetrating.
I use it for mud fever and fly repellent and any small wounds. I always wear surgical gloves to apply as it is just so strong! Worth it , though.
I buy mine off ebay.
 
It smells like the gunk you scrape off the BBQ grill when you unearth it in early summer and it's not been cleaned since the previous august!

I use it in my pony who has sweet itch, I dilute it with baby oil and paint it on to the roots of his mane with a brush

He is a grey but looks like he smokes 60 a day!
