Where do you buy neem oil.also does it have to be diluted and is it safe to use in hot sunny weather? That's if we get any sun this year! Thanks.:)
 
Also interested in the answers to this Q. I was looking it up last night and I'm off to see if holland and Barrats sell the oil and the supplements. It's supposed to be good for skin conditions in horses but I have psoariasis so I'm going to experiment on me too.

Same - I tried it, it reeks, horrid stuff! Had to stop using it :D All things worth a try, though...

& Floxie. Ive just been to town to buy some from our health food store.
Phew! It honks! And that's with a preparation which has bergamot and eucalyptus added. Garlicish but even less pleasant. No wonder it keeps lice and flies away! Think the horse can have it but I bet he objects to the smell too.
 
I buy mine from an Indian food website, but 1.something for 100ml. Works out cheapest for me and the size of the bottles makes it convenient, as I dilute it to make it go further. Because it's pure, it does go solid in the cold, so I let a bottle bob in hot water before I use it. You can also buy Neem leaf powder, which is even cheaper, but it's messy!
 
I love the stuff!
The Neem Team do a cream for humans that does not smell and it is very effective for skin irritations.

I have to agree it does stink but, you do get use to it.

I am using Neem in with Pig Oil for mud fever prevention.
When a yearling slashed his side open and the stitches broke down, I used Neem on the open wound to keep the flies and infection off it. Worked exceptionally well. No proud flesh either.

I use it on the dogs and horses diluted. 2 tablespoons of Neem, 2 of liquid soap, 1 L of hot water and mix well.

On some horses, if you use it neat then it can cause blistering.

I also use it with 2 teaspoons neem same of soap to 1 L of hot water and spray the garden, keeps slugs and other plant eating insects away. It doesn't put non plant eating insects off.

I wouldn't be without the stuff both in the barn and the garden shed!

Its amazing stuff!

I add ecover to mine to make a neem spray which is great when you my horse wont let me near a cut and that way I dont n eed to faff with touching it.

I dont like washing cuts and things and my horse doesnt like it either. Dont think Id like my cuts to be hibiscrubbed, wrapped etc. So what the neem does is cleans and is antibacterial too. Ive been using it on my some deep cuts that my girl has on her legs which started weeping. She doesnt like being stabled to I didnt want to keep her in. Ive sprayed the leg and its cleared the weeping right up and because its an oil it protects the cut when out in the field.

Im also using it to clear up some thrush that my girl has and its working brilliantly. The sulcus is opening up and the frog is no longer a little shriveled thing.

Ive heard its great for rain scald so my friend is currently trialling it on her horse for that. Also mud fever, fly spray, getting rid of ticks and lots of other things.

The only thing I dont like about it is it sets like honey when the temp drops to under 18 degrees so you need to keep it by a radiator or wood burner.Also as others have said the smell is strange but I dont mind since it works brilliantly.
