Neglected horse...RSPCA as per, do nothing. Who to call?

Ok, theres a very thin horse/pony near my boyfriends house, matted mane/tail/hair falling out, feet ridiculously overgrown etc etc, being "kept" down an alleyway. I haven't seen it for myself (going to go look today) but OHs sister and her friend have both phoned the RSPCA twice, and they've said they'll come have a look in a month. :confused:

Anyway, assuming this pony is still there/in a bad way when I go see it, who would I be best phoning? World Horse Welfare? BHS? Or is there anyone else?
 
Phone WHW and they will send a field inspector out.
Dont tell them the RSPCA has been called or they may not want to come if another welfare organisation is involved.

Ok thanks, wasn't sure whether telling them RSPCA had been informed would be a good idea or not.
 
A month........How ridiculas! I guess they didnt think they would have much of a chance prosecuting this person as the horse is still half alive. I guess they'll wait until the horse is on deaths door and then they'll have a stronger case for prosecution. Incase u cant guess im not there number one fan.
 
Agree with the others re calling WHW. We keep their number in our mobiles so it's always handy as you just never know when you might need it.
 
I would suggest taking photos if at all possible, so you can email them to WHW or who you end up contacting, so they can see it is a genuine case, rather than a malicious call or an over-reacting busybody.
 
This kind of thing infuriates me!
There has been a notice (RSPCA) put on the gateway of a field near my parents house. The field contains about 6 or 7 mares with foals at foot and a couple of youngsters. They are all in good condition (Fat if anything!), I check them regularly on my dog walks. The old man who owns them had a stroke last month and is in bad health. The community have really pulled around him. There are many people doing checks, filling up water etc.

I will read the notice when I take the dogs out, I can guarentee the RSPCA will have been called because the horses 'dont have coats on' or 'have no food'.
 
Personally I would keep pestering them.

I had the rspca out for mine a month or so again, it took them a week to come out but wasted their time as there was/is nothing wrong with my lot.
