I have done a couple of posts about my doberman yapping and am doing my best to sort it, or rehome her.

Today my neighbour rang up and went wild at me. She was screaming down the phone telling me to shut my dogs up. As I am at home all day, I they only bark if someone comes to our house, or goes down her drive.

At night my little one has been yapping but I am on it straight away and am now using a soft night muzzel which is working.

I was horrified at how she spoke to me, as there really is not a cause for complaint and she allows her one dog to bark all the time.

We also live a field away from a dog boarding kennels and she gives them grief and reports them to the council.

I did'nt say anything to her, I just listened and said "I'll sort it". Afterwards I felt really angrey because I am at home 24/7 and she knows the minute they do bark, I am there to stop it.

Her young son drives his quad bike with his friends for hours up and down, disturbing our peace and I have never said a thing. I also put up with her refusing to do anything with her garden full of ragwort year in and year out. Also her geese that are allowed to roam on everyone's land, including the main road.

I have kept my mouth shut and never said a thing, but today I was so shell shocked I could'nt get a word out.

Any suggestions, did I do the right thing and how should I deal with her in the future?

Ignore her!! She is an idiot!

You are trying to do your best with your little bitch - try it, without listening to what others say. If your bitch comes good then great - if she doesn't then you are trying! And if there is no hope then you will find the right home for her.

Please do not concern yourself over this woman. There's nowt she can do anyway!!

You should have put the phone down-you don't have to put up with that kind of abuse as you have enough on your plate with your poorly husband and your dobie!

If she bothers to call the council and you get a visit just send them round her place saying the quad bike is all hours and get evidence!

That will shut her up-neighbours who would have them!

You can always write to that programme neighbours from hell and send the researcher round!!!!

If she phones again tell her you will put the phone down if she cannot be pleasant!

Agree with the others but another tack would be to report her and the family with the complaints that you have before she reports you first. With that list against her, I think you have put up and shut up for far too long IMO!
Hope it gets sorted soon, you can't be doing any more than you already are.

i know it sounds petty but dont allow yourself to be bullied by this woman...start keeping a diary on times and dates when her family kiss you off ....dont bother with the council go streight to enviromentol health section these are the people to deal with it good luck...

The trouble with playing the 'tit for tat' game with this woman is that you still have to live next door to her and there's nothing more stressful than having all out war with your next door neighbours. It can get so out of hand and end up in court etc. Have you been friendly with this woman at all? My sensible head says it might be an idea to wait a few days and go round to see her and find out exactly what it was that upset her so much. Maybe she had a pounding migraine and the dog barking was just too much, or she could just be a really unpleasant woman and you won't get anywhere. You could point out all the things that get on your nerves about her family and agree that for you all to live in peace both families will have to work on some of the noise issues.

We have been neighbours for six years and because of a great whopping hedge between the house boundaries, never see each to speak.

However, she is quick to ask a favour and I have always done them, other times she will drive or walk past and wont look or speak. We have never had any contact with her, other than when shes lost her dog, her pony got out on to the road and they gypys dumped two animals on her land. We did everything to help her and more.

She's reported our other neighbour (across the field) who have a boarding kennel, generally pissed everyone off that lives anywhere near her. Over the years we have just been polite and helpful, not wishing to commence a battle.

I was so gob smacked when she phoned I was literally speechless!! Hindsight, I'm afraid I am not quick enough off the mark.

Don't we always think of something really clever to say in these circumstances about 2 hours after the event! Seems like she's just a really unpleasant woman then but I still think it's best not to get into a war of who can make the most complaints as it can escalate and get expensive. Just ignore her and if an official complaint is made deal with it when it happens. I dare say the council will have noted that she's a serial complainer so they will be forwarned if she complains about you.

Actually tiaribbon she can do something about it, she can report the dog to the council or RSPCA who will investigate it. I had it happen to me and i laughed so much, my dogs bark when someone comes up my drive, past the door to the back garden. They are german shepherds so are naturally protective.

However if that person walks away, they shut up.

Have you tried one of those anti barking collars? They are very good and do work well, dont hurt at all. Had to use it on my mates collies

Don't worry - even if she does reprt you al that wil happen is that the dog warden will come out and monitor the barking - nothing will be done as long as the dogs do not bark for longer than 45 minutes without stopping between the hours of 10pm and 5am - as you are there all day this is most unlikely to happen.

Some folk are just so intolerant but to be quite honest thats THEIR problem

Dont know about your circumstances, but seeing this from the other side. we live two doors away from a dog that barks incessently. I cant believe they have to bark for more than 45 mins between 10pm and 5 am, is that right ?????
This one barks on and off all day because it is left outside even when the owners are there. They never take it out and it is shut in a narrow alley down the side of the house and cant see anything so it obviously bored to death. Everytime I go into my garden the damn thing barks and I was about to get onto the council but seems I would be wasting my time if they are only interested in the night hours. Its driving me bonkers.
