Putting this on here as am really confused what to do .. Hear goes

Our Neighbours dog has been coming to our house for about 6 weeks, at the start it was just sitting around the place, or playing with my dog, which I didn't really mind, as it would only be here for an hour, maybe once every 3 or 4 days.

But in the last 10 days, it has been spending most of its time here, when I have been hacking out jumping at horses and ponies, chasing horses and ponies in the field, pulled rugs off stable doors and ripped some, picking my dog up by the neck and throwing him around. We are building new stables at the moment and the builders put the cement for the floor in and it came during the night and jumped in and put big paw prints in the cement, the builders had to wet the cement down, and make up more and try to smooth it. They were furious!!! (Also barks outside my window in the middle of the night)

(also I have horses and ponies in for owners and ponies that have won classes at national championships, and i cant see owners being very happy with me having a dog that could be potentially dangerous around their animals, I know if I was in their position I wouldnt!!)

I have called up about 5 times in the last 2/3 weeks and I called up about an hour ago saying about the rugs and cement. The owner of the dog keeps telling me to chase it, I'm not planning on getting up in the middle of the night to chase it! When I suggested her paying for the rug repairs, she said there was no way in the world she would do that!! Where do I stand and what can I do?

Thanks for reading that mouthful!!

Does it wear a collar and tag? Does it go onto a public road to get to yours?

It's an offence for a dog to be on a public highway without wearing a collar and ID tag. Report it to your local dog warden.

Actually, next time it turns up I'd pack it in the back of my car and take it to the local RSPCA / police station and say it keeps turning up and attacking your dog.

Say it's a stray (unless it's got a collar). The owner might think twice in future.

Dont know where you are but is there a local dog warden? Give them a ring and ask for advice, it might only talk a word from them to remind the owner that it should be under control when out, or haveing to pick it up from the pound might do the trick.

Not sure about the ID tag, but definetly collar!! It does travel on a public road!!

live in the country (about 5 miles from town) so not sure about a dog warden!?!

Oh thats good! My only worry is falling out with neighbours! They would be the sort of tit for tat people, if we took their dog to a dog warden, it wouldnt surprise me if they wooed my dog down to the road and took it to a dog warden! :S

also just wondering about me having to repair rugs, I know if my dog did damage I wouldn't have an issue paying, as it shouldnt have been there and its my responsibilty, is there anything I can do?
