neighbours horse grazing in our field .. what would you do ...

Unfortunately you are responsible for keeping them out. Some friends of mine ended up putting heras 6ft panels up to keep the next door riggy pony out, it caused a couple of thousands pounds of vets bills to a gelding trying to get it away from a mare.
Is a bit harder once they have run through electric but I would make a separate paddock in your field and electrify with two lots of fencing on separate energisers and go though the abandonment notice.

not true. its the responsibility of people to fence their stock in not for neighbours to fence then out.
OP needs to speak to a legal expert. start the abandonment notice issue and man up.

Totally untrue ! the animal owner is responsible for stopping their stock escaping . Everybody would have to fence their properties otherwise whether they had animals or not LOL .

I ditto the electric fence. I had a gypsy cob that would happily walk through barbed wire but respected electric fence. If the area electrified is shorter the zap is greater.

I would send a solicitors letter and I probably would have done that in december. I think the problem is you didnt react strongly enough when it first happened!

I would lend you my battery electric fence if I were nearby!
