im fed up with one of my neighbours by my field. there are some nice people around but some are just out and out pains. they have made their views very vocal and have said that they wished we hadnt been sold the land as they want to look out onto green fields not stables - well tough they shouldve bought the land then shouldnt they (they knew it was for sale) they have objected to every part of our planning permission and even reported us for endangering their lives when walking hteir dogs through the footpaths - when they dont even use it, but we sorted that out.

we are pleasant and polite to them, never rude, have done things to make sure that their view isnt spoiled. when they are out and about the husband in specific cant even be pleasant and say hello, he glares at us or just blanks us - well thats fine cos i just ignore him now.

so i went to the yard yesterday to find out someone has been sledging in my field
mad.gif
, was miffed to say the least as there isnt a foot path through this part of the field. and today i find out its the guy opposite my field
blush.gif
who brought his kids into my field.
im so annoyed and upset that he cant even be polite to me when we are around, but he has the audacity to come and sledge in my field. i really want to go round and have a good go at him about trespassing and even reporting him - think ill have a word with my police friends

am i wrong to feel this way.

I can completely understand why you feel like that but I think letting off steam might just give them more ammunition. I think I would take the line the next time you see them of asking if they had anice time tobogganing in your field. that way they know you know and they may even feel embarrassed at having it bought up.

no you're perfectly justified in feeling this way. The way they are behaving is rude.

I would give it a day or two to calm down and then go and speak to them.

I can understand your situation completely though im afraid tresspassing is only a civil offence unless they cause damage to your field.
Though if they are showing threating behaviour/harrassment toward you than this could be reported to the police who would deal with it as a neighbour dispute.
I would go round to the house and ask them politely not to sledge in your field as it could be dangerous as you might need to turn your horses out (if you are sure it was them
smile.gif
). Then they wont be able to moan about it as you are warnin them, then if they do get injured it will be thier own fault. They wont be able to sue you anyway as they would have been tresspassing

I'm glad its not just the people who live near my field who are idiots then! I have a similar situation, they actually blocked me in with their car and when i asked them to move it they ranted very aggressively at me for the best part of 30mins! They said exactly the same thing, that that land shouldn't have had stables built on it and that we were ruining their lives etc, etc! My husband has a good saying that 'when people move to the country they expect the country to move out'! I just think that these types of people must have far too much time on their hands if all they have to do is complain about what other people are doing. They will never be happy or satisfied with their lives and for that i pity them. Sorry my rant over now xx

thing is trubie they have been in again today. to get to where they have been they have climbed through my fencing and have decided to go through part of my field and leave the main gate open. now it is a good thing that the way i have set my field up they cant get to the road and that my horses are in another part of the field for the winter fenced off with electric fencing or they couldve got out.
i just cant believe how inconsiderate they are. and to make it worse do they not think i cant see their foot prints? der

Flight - you sure we dont have the same neighbours lol? where abouts are you and your horses?
my gate way used to be regularly blocked in, but we seem to have resolved this issue now. the neighbours around really detest incomers in to the village, they make up rumours and tbh its like a kids play ground with them. my friend who is literally round the corner has the neighbour who over looks her barn coming to ask them to move their cars parked (which are parked on their own land so nto hurting this neighbour or neighbours land) just because they make the place unsightly.
ruining their lives - how pathetic are these people, if they were that bothered about how the land looked or was going to look then why didnt they look at buying it themselves.

this is sooooo right - i was on livery and the neighbours (townies) moved into a converted house and complained to the farmer that his cows were too loud and could he stop them mooing! yeah right, please shut up mrs cow! i could just see a farmer asking all his cows to do this.

best thing is they have their own field
blush.gif
but mine has a better slope to it
grin.gif

there is another neighbour that thinks my field is right to roam and just a playground for her dog so puts it over the stile and watches it run about round my horses upsetting them - ive siad if she carries on ill take my 3 loopy collies to run around her garden terrorising her flowers
grin.gif

lol thats soooo funny about the cows mooing. I can just imagine it! My land is nr barnsley in south yorkshire. I am tempted with some cockrels........ if only i could make sure that they couldn't be heard by any of the other neighbours.
I just wish i had their nightmares, just imagine it in the middle of the night suddenly sitting bolt upright in bed I can just imagine the conversation as below:
'whats up dear'
'oh it was a terrible nightmare'
'what were you dreaming?'
'there were horses, in a field!' 'Oh it was just frightful' 'And there were stables'
'Oh my god thats terrible, poor you, now lets try and get back to sleep!'

PMSL

must be people in Barnsley cos my land is near Banrsley too
blush.gif
we must have the same neighbours
grin.gif

im liking the idea od geese more than chickens just for the guard dog appearance but liking the chickens for the noise

lol i can imagine this too, what an awful life to have dreams like this

thats what were going to have to do put i never thought anyone would use this gate as there is no reason for it. it looks like ill be investing in some more chains and padlocks.

geese will be on order as soon as we can get a pen to keep them in over night
grin.gif

ive got electric fencing when i can. and when i have mains electric (using batteries at the mo) put on everything will be electrified including metal gate handles so they cant open the damn gates
grin.gif
ive got barbed wire when i also can have it which is away from the horses as people think that they can come through the boundary fence when they fancy it. honestly these people are hard work. all i wanted was some land for my horses, the neighbours are more work than the horses lol

I wonder if the same rule applies to dogs worrying horses as it does sheep and could be shot?
Are they just going through your land (as in is the main gate on your land) or is some a footpath. If they are leavin the main gate open which leads to a footpath the local council may be to do something! Ill have a look to see if my council has any info and post back
smile.gif

i think they do count as the same thing re horses being worried.
the main gate to the road is chained and padlocked, there is a stile for them to climb over, the gate they have opened is no use to anyone but me (and is the only one not chained and padlocked). i have had an area on the top of my field post and railed so that the 2 footpaths at the edge of my field are sectioned off from my stables - both for safety for the public and my horses and to ensure that the footpaths arent mud baths.

thanks for going and have a look at the pack for me.

Tharg, i wish that were the case, but unfortunately there is not a damn prayer of getting permission for houses and the neighbours know this, we bought the land of a builder who tried to get permission for houses and kept getting turned down.

Dont listen to my advice, but I would have told him to **** himself a LONG LONG time ago!
I cant stand ignorant or rude people!
Cheeky b@ast@rd!!!!
I would put my muck heap as close to his house as possible and make his life hell!

Rant over lol!

My husband has a good saying that 'when people move to the country they expect the country to move out'!
that is just so true, i come from a small hamlet 14 houses, 7 are or were farms back in the late 80's a cottage was sold to a london couple who worked near paddington so the moved out and commuted from weston super mare to london

after a while they sent a letter to the farmers (all dairy) and asked them if they could milk later as the 4.30 milk was waking them up and could the farmers please clean the cow muck of the road as it was ruining the car (the lane is known as [****] land down are way!)

eventually they left, everyone else thought it was funny

it is a bit like buying the house next to the church and complaining about the bells

this is how i feel about him at this moment in time
frown.gif

the stupid thing is when we bought the land there was a huge (and I mean huge) muckheap which they stated was a problem and would i move it, i agreed as i needed to get shut of it anyway but i thought with me trying to help them out then they would be nice, oh no they just wanted to get things done so were nice when it was happening then turned to be the normal selves

i do wonder what people think about moving into the countryside but not actually realising how the country works, they just want life to carry on as they want to live it and the country life should change - i think not! they can all sod off back to town life for me

heh, all that sound very familiar to me... I am the most unpopular person in the village as I am not happy with people sledging in my field full of new born lambs, thinking it funny when the poor bu@@ers run for cover and letting their dogs chase my sheep!
There is no footpath or any other right of way through that field, the neighbours told me to move my sheep to another field so they can sledge happily and not get covered in sheep sh1t.
The hill is really steep and I have a fence at the bottom consisting of sheep netting and 2 strands of barbed wire - it is going to end up in tears.
I was called a b1tch and an old hog today, I'm really disappointed as I wanted to be called a miserable old bat like a lady next door has been.

dont know if youve seen this but it has ended in tears up here. A girl from my area was killed when sledging and went into barb and plain wire which was for sheep!

cant you get an injuction out against the dog owners as sheep worrying is a crime

what gets me is the amount of people that feel they can do what they want when they want and they dont care about the people they upset along the way.

good job you have a sense of humour
grin.gif
surprised you didnt slap them

well after reading all of this i might put my dream of owning my own land to rest!!!!! i thought livery yards could be bad!
personally i would connect the electric fencing to the mains and re- build that muck heap ready for the summer!
two can play at that game.
good luck, sounds like you've got your hands full.
