Ok so I've groomed my pony within an inch of his life, cleaned all my tack, loaded up my car and I've just sat down with a cup of tea. Now I've stopped for the day, I suddenly feel ridiculously nervous! This is my fourth attempt at getting out to a show, but my pony hasn't loaded on the three previous attempts... I'm nervous he won't load again, and then if he does I'm even more nervous to actually get to the show!!! I'm doing the novice working hunter, my first ever wh class and I haven't practiced a course, our canter is too fast, he trots like a giraffe, I have no steering or brakes when he gets excited and he naps. I'm having a nervous breakdown and don't know now to calm myself down! If B picks up on my nerves he'll take the biscuit tomorrow :(

Deep breathes chuck!
Well done on everything you've done today - sounds like you've made a real effort! As for tomorrow, just take it as it comes. If pony doesn't load, stay calm, slow down and try again and be positive! And if you get to the show (which I'm sure you will) just enjoy yourself and give it a go! Honestly, it's more fun if you go to have fun :) Good luck for tomorrow.

oh bless you! Cannot think of anything useful to say except just enjoy the experience! I longed and longed to have my own horse to take to a show, and it took me over 30 years from when I had my first lesson, to getting there. Enjoy it for the privilege that it is, and take any small achievement as a huge one. Good luck x x x

Just say ' what is the worse that can happen ' the worse is you come at the back ( wont say lost :)), so what :)

As long as you come home happy and have fun, that is good :)

Let us know how you get on xx

So... B loaded first time no problems!!!! :D I withdrew from the working hunter as he was a bit excited from travelling and He threw a bit of a tantrum in the warm up so I withdrew and did the novice combination class instead (first year of showing)
I came away with a "special" in the beat condition because my pony is quite tubby, 2nd in the novice combination, and a first in the driving type :) qualified twice for the end of summer championship and I couldn't be more pleased with how today went! All a bit emotional! :)
