Argh. I have arranged vet to come and check Belle over, just with her being old and with heading into winter.

I've never had a vet out to a horse before, have no idea what to expect and now I'm really nervous. What happens if they find anything, I mean I know I'll ring her owner (I full loan) and we'll discuss any issues that arise, but what if something bad shows up!

Argh!

Try not to worry. If you haven't noticed anything unusual it is unlikely that anything terrible will come to light. it is a good idea to get a vet to give advice on caring for the more 'mature' horse. Let us know what happens.

As Divasmum said if nothing has shown up yet that you have noticed and you havnt needed the vet out for anything before then you should have no problems! Just dont panic, the vet will only give you advice on caring for her i am sure!

Agree. There will be nothing major if you've not noticed anything. They will probably give you advice on her weight, workload etc and might recommend you getting her teeth checked too. How old is she? It's nice to hear some people care enough to get the vet for a check up without waiting until something goes wrong - good on you

She's 20, 21 in Feb and having a party!

She's recently had her teeth done so I'm not too concerned about that, and dentist said she had really good teeth for her age. I think her eyesight might not be as good as it was as her eyes look a little cloudy but I suppose that's natural with age.

I think I mainly want vet to check her joints as I don't want her getting stiff or anything. But she doesn't seem stiff or lame when I ride so fingers crossed all is ok!

Thanks
