Ok I'm not one for tempting providence but having said that with my luck recently I should be changing my whole superstitious outlook lol..!!! So I thought I would just post what the vet said and not say whether good bad or indifferent lol

KK well yesterday massive worry with Tom as you know thought his pedal bone had come through turned out all was ok and a false alarm..... Anyway the vet who came to see him was Oscar who has not been out for the last two weeks as he has been on hols but he was the first vet treating him for his laminitis when it first started and saw him at his absloute worst... he did not really coment much yesterday apart from saying he looked brighter than when he last saw him...

Well he was back today to see the grey horse then went to see Tommy... he checked his heart rate, asked Tom to pick his feet up (which he did easily) and checked all his pulses.... The upshot was he said that he was comfy!!! comfy and the meds were holding him at last..... for the first time his meds are enough to stop most of the the pain and he thinks the attack is over he just now has to heal the damage..... If he is still the same in a weeks time we can look to gradually reduce his medication...

He still has many hurdles to overcome and so many things can still go wrong for him but the B****y hateful laminitis is at last under control....

*hiding behind the chair ddodging the thunderbolts*

Oh and thought would add pic showing his £450 pair of Jimmy Choos!!!!! Was taken weeks ago he is still firmly locked up lol

That's excellent news, I know how you feel, at first when Jess was getting better from horrid lami I kept waiting for her to go back to being bad again but she seems on the road to recovery! My mare has those shoes too, very pretty huh!!

That does sound more optimistic. I'll keep everything crossed for him, but what a fighter he's been so far.

That is really good news!!

I'm so pleased that the vet thinks he's more comfortable, and that now you can heal and manage the laminitis.

Such a horrible disease, and once a laminitic, always a laminitic.

Onwards and upwards for Tommy and ((((hugs))) to him and you!! Great job!!

Great news!!!

Laminitis is such a horrible condition! I had an oldie who had repeated attacks and it was quite tough to see him in pain, so it's brilliant Tommy is recovering well!

Fingers, hooves and paws crossed for him still.

Lets hope you can start reducing the meds soon - then the hard part starts the never ending year round management of a laminitic. Mind you when you get it right its a fantastic achievement - I nearly cried the first time I rode my mare after her 5 months of box rest so was worth all the hard work and tlc in the end!!
