Pointless post really, just winding myself up whilst waiting for the vet's verdict on my lovely boy. He finished treatment for ulcers recently and they cleared up beautifully and we're managing him to prevent them coming back and he's putting on weight nicely. But he's still having problems with canter - on the lunge he goes disunited and bucks a lot, and he bucks under saddle in canter too, particularly when he hasn't been ridden the day before.

Some people have said to me he's just being naughty, but I don't think that's it - he's a sweet genuine horse and I think it must be a pain response as he looks so upset by it. So the vet is coming today to have a look - I've convinced myself it's something awful like kissing spines :(

I'm torn - I want the vet to find something so we can get it fixed, but just hoping whatever it is is fixable :(

sounds like possibly some sort of pelvic issue. It's surprising how common they are. Hope you managed to get him sorted. Keep us posted

hey ghostie, im in exactly same position im taking my mare vets this afternoon she was kicked few weeks ago and still lame with quite a substantial lump im desperately hoping for good outcome as shes only rising 4...

Im sure it wont be anything bad and if your out like me (panic merchant over legs n limbs) then well both be told to stop been girls and get on with it. Good luck ill keep my fingers crossed. :) xxxx

and the verdict is....

We don't know :( She thinks he is in discomfort but it appears to be muscular rather than skeletal. She thinks his lack of topline is possibly contributing to the problem. She's advised I get the back lady out, then we're going to put him on bute and a very low dose of sedalin for exercise and then try and build his topline up over the next month just working in walk and trot and see how he goes.

Obviously pleased it isn't anything major, but also a bit disappointed not to have a definite diagnosis/action plan for fixing him.

Hope your horse's vet visit was more positive Wildcard x
