Has anyone else watched this documentary/film on Netflix yet? Just watched it this evening and it was very beautiful, thought provoking and interesting, as well as pretty sad in some places.

It follows 4 young guys riding 3000 miles from the Mexico border to the Canadian border on just broken in wild mustangs. Yup, it's as crazy as it sounds and has some real heart-in-mouth moments with the crazy terrain they ride (including the Grand Canyon), but the scenery is stunning and I would well recommend a watch :)

***ps just to add - it's actually called UNBRANDED, apologies, naughty auto-correct grr!!***
 
Ooo, I haven't spotted that on Netflix yet. Thank you for mentioning it - I'll definitely watch it asap.
 
Thank you MasterBenedict. I have finally made the time to watch it. You described the film very well. Very thought-provoking. (My TB wouldn't have lasted a mile on that trip!)
 
Its fabulous, a bit of a hard watch in places. The most balanced view of mustang management I've seen and Ben Masters is still very involved and something of an inspiration. If I was over there, I'd have nothing but mustangs, I think they're amazing.
 
Completely stunning! I probably wouldn't have watched it had it not been for the recommendation but I was glued the whole time.
 
Kept me entertained for a few hours whilst on house arrest and has fuelled my determination to get fixed and get adventuring again! Amazing what those horses do within a few months of human interaction.
 
A bit of an emotional rollercoaster but fantastic to watch. What I wouldn't give to be out in the middle of no-where with views like that and almost dead silence

Very interesting, it did drive me nuts over welfare and idiocy at times and obviously poor Cricket was really sad. The roundup at the end didn't give too much away over the fate of the horses. I know Luke was auctioned off and a couple of others went with 2 of the riders but the others were "on vacation in Texas", not sure what that means and as much as the programme was interesting, I couldn't help but think the horses were simply a tool to make a film and after it ended were 'disposed of', it really contradicted everything they were saying about looking after Mustangs, giving them a job, a home, purpose etc.
 
I watched it a few months ago and thought it was brilliant. The ranch I stay on in Arizona is involved with the mustang rehabilitation programme and you don't actually realise how many wild mustangs there are in mid west America.
They all seem to be very trainable and able to go on to other jobs well
I also had no idea that the mid west of America was soooo remote and beautiful or that horses could possible clamber over such terrain.

We watched it last week and loved it. I've been to a few of the places they rode through but that was years ago, before we had ponies. Both DH and I said we'd like to take our girls out there and do some trails riding next time.
 
Oh wow! fburton, that's amazing. Dh has donated to kick-starter projects and if the ponies didn't eat all my money, I would too. Thank you from us, it was one if the best films I've seen for a long time and I've reccommended it to everyone I know.
 
I watched it, very interesting to watch. Did feel they pushed the horses too far in places like up that cliff where the poor non-Mustang fell and literally bounced down the rocks, horrifying. I do think its tragic how wild Mustangs are being treated in their natural environment, its always about the money :( So sad. I'd have one!

Thanks for your kind words, mirage. As I said my contribution was a tiny part of it. Still, it seemed like a good thing to do at the time and I'm pleased it worked out so well. :)
 
Watched the other day, was very difficult to watch at times! But wow, what amazing little horses.

The little Donk jumping over the log was just amazing.

Very sad for Cricket :(
 
I watched Unbranded yesterday - it was amazing! So sad when Cricket is lost, how do you think it happened? I assumed broken neck?

Those mustangs were tough but I loved the donkey! I think it was called Donquito?!
