Neue Schule bit measure - how to use it

Has anybody used the Neue Schule bit measure from this site or know how to measure for them. I'm pretty sure that if I put some paper or card in my boys mouth it will be eaten in 10 seconds flat!

Thanks if anyone can help - I'm think he needs a 6.5 inch but I want to make sure

I've only ever used the rein stops on a wooden spoon method - Pop wooden spoon in horses mouth, then slide rein stops up against the side of their mouth, then measure to the outside edge of the rein stops to give the right size. That or measure a bit, you know that fits.

Thanks! I have managed to work out that you don't have to put the paper in their mouth

but a wooden spoon is a great idea

He came with a 6 inch snaffle but I think he is more 6.5 inch

mine came with 5 inch - worked out he actual 6 inch !!!

neue schule i found come up small, mine takes 5 3/4 and needed a 6 1/4 in ns??
