Neue Schule bit sizing?

Do they come up small?
Had ordered a 5 1/4" loosering veribend for my horse. He usually takes a 5" so thought this would allow a little extra room at the lips. It arrives and it was smaller than the existing 5" bit so didn't bother trying it on and exchanged it for a 5 1/2". This arrived today and it is still smaller??? What's going on!!

Hi - just bought one of these bits ( the one that encourages the horse to take a contact) basically a fixed ring snaffle. I ordered a 6ins which is my horses normal size and it fits perfectly and he loves it. Very odd yours doesn't. They are very helpful if you deal with them direct though so maybe worth a phone call.

Yes I think they do come up small. Mine is usually a 5 3/4" but in the NS he had to have a 6"

I thought it was Star's fat tongue.... she takes a 5" mullen, and a 5.75" in a verbindend.

Yep, its just the Verbindends. With the mouthpiece laid out as it lies in the horse's mouth, instead of pulled straight, the distance from ring to ring narrows by about 1/2 an inch. My horse's mouth measures 5.5 inches but the 5.5 inch Verbindend was way too small for her and I've had to buy the 6 inch.

^^^^^ as above. They are smaller due to the way the bit lies in the mouth.

5 1/2 was too small for mine too!

ditto F_s_ they do come up smaller, like the KK bits as they have the curved mouthpiece. On ns site you can print out a measure so you get the right size.

Aha! Bad veribend lol! I'll try on the 5 1/2" but have a feeling i'll need to get a 5 3/4"!!!!
