I have an Arab cross who I am struggling to bit. Since owning him I have always rode him in French link snaffle but previous owners always ride him in gag on bottom ring as he is very enthusiastic and no brakes! I wanted to ride him in a milder bit and gave been schooling him since I bought him 9 months ago. Have come to conclusion that no matter what I do he is always going to be hard to stop as on grass he just wants to go. Can't blame him as he is 15 although you wouldn't guess and has been passed from home to home and raced round. I want to calm him and give him lively life. He gets very dry in mouth and have considered nueu schule hanging cheek and also the universal as can change setting for fun rides and maybe gave little more control. Any thoughts?

I have a NS loose ring for in the school and hacking and the Universal for jumping/hunting etc. I've tried a fair few bits, have quite a collection :) and he prefers NS over all the others.

You can use the Universal with the reins on the snaffle ring too. I previously used a happy mouth dutch gag and he much prefers the NS bit.

I had mine on trial for 30 days first as they are expensive if your horse doesn't like them for some reason.

Sorry forgot to add they make him salivate more too, think its the metal, so may help a dry mouth.

Also if you go for the Verdibend mouthpiece I found they come up small, so get 1/4" bigger :)

i have an arab x too they suggested the team up for him, phone them i got really good advice from the bit bank and waiting for the bit to arrive

I learnt the hard way too Capriole! Luckily managed to sell it for a decent price on a horse forum. When I decided to get a Universal to match my loose ring, I had it on trial first, just in case!

Thanks for replys, have phoned but bank and they recommended universal as it has so many options to use, will get one on trial and see how it goes.

Hi we have 3 horses in these bits - I love them! I have an Arab who is super in it, 1 Connemara and a warmblood, they all work really well in them :)
