Hi all- just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Neue Schule team up bit, as was thinking of trying it on my pony.

He's a 14.1 Connemara and currently ridden in a loose ring snaffle with a lozenge. He naturally has a very short neck, and whilst schooling has a tendency to tense up and 'tuck' his head in, shortening his neck even more and sitting behind the bit. When he relaxes he does mouth on the bit a fair amount, but sometimes when he becomes tense he really 'chomps' at it and won't settle- and I'm a little concerned this could be him not finding it comfortable?

I've done lots of work with my instructor on getting him to relax and move forward from behind and into the contact, and he's really improved and has become a lot more consistent- but my instructor has recommended trying this bit as it may help some more.
I have only owned him for a few months and this was the bit he arrived in-but now I'm getting to know him more I'm thinking there might be other options!
Any advice would be great !

Team up is designed for the problem you have so instructor is correct.
Worked well for a mare I ride who had similar issues. Much happier to take contact forward.

I tried this bit with a very sensitive Spanish horse that was so terrified of the bit that he would keep his mouth open all the time, with his head nearly touching his chest and absolutely no contact. It didn't solve the problem, but it was the only thing that he came even close to accepting in his mouth.

He goes extremely well now, happy in a full curb bit ridden one handed. Still won't accept a snaffle, 'though.

Thanks everyone for your replies - very helpful to hear from people who've actually used it! I'm currently trying to track one down on eBay - hopefully might be a little less expensive !
