Has anyone got any photos of the NS Turtle Top or Turtle Tactio being used?

I have one on trial and the cheeks are sitting out at an angle, rather than being straight to my horses head. My mare seems to like the bit - but the cheeks look v strange (only a couple of inches apart under her jaw and then stuck out at an angle - so away from her face above the bit)

I'd double-check you've got it in right if the angle is really all that severe, but they are supposed to do that: it avoids collisions with the protruding cheekbone and minimises the possibility of catching the flesh of the cheeks between the bit-cheeks and the molars.

Thanks for your reply. The first time I used it I took the bridle off about 4 times to make sure I had it the right way round ! ;)

I have been in touch with Neue Schule (who were super super helpful BTW) who've said it's all ok. The outward angle lessens once I pick the contact up, which takes the bit into it's correct position. There is more of an outward angle than for normal full cheek bits though.

I think if she likes it, buy it in a hanging cheek. I would be a bit worried about her catching herself if the full cheeks are sticking out that much. The action of the mouthpiece will be the same and you will still have the benefit of the help with turning with the hanging cheek.

They don't do the Tactio in a hanging cheek - the full cheek bit is the only one with a fixed ring. All the other are loose ring, which offers too much movement for my mare (because she is a fuss ass!!)

Ahhh, sorry! What a pain, I never quite understand why there are more options in a loose ring, I mainly use eggbutts and hanging cheeks.
