Yes, I ride Will in one. I really like it, its well shaped (I had to half inch bigger than a normal bit size), mine is fairly slim as Will has a fleshy mouth. Comes up into the corners of his mouth better than my KK Sprenger did
I used to ride my previous horse in one. I got it because he used to fall out through his shoulder and NS said it would help. It did .
I sold it to somebody on here who got on well with it also..
I've got one from the bit bank - just arrived, so will try tonight.
My horse is an Irish Draught with quite a fleshy tongue and a sensitive mouth. He's not strong at all and doesn't really lean, but his evasion tactic is to flip his tongue over the bit.
He does also fall out through the shoulder on the right rein !
I am hoping the shape of this bit will help with that and the salox metal will encourage him to mouth a bit more. He's going quite well, but is a little inconsistant and I've never thought he was completely happy in his mouth (done all the usual teeth checks etc), so after a bit of research I came up with this bit as something to try.
Interested to know other peoples views as well, so thanks.
Yes, for sensitive but willing/polite mare with thick lips/tongue in a small mouth, and a tendency to lean. She seems to like it better than the multitude of others I tried - is the first horse (in 35 years!) I've had problems finding a suitable bit for. The blurb made mention of "established" horses that nearly stopped me trying it as she was VERY green for a 6 yo when I got it, but 2 years on it's still what we use for flatwork.
ill go against the grain and say i really didnt like it-made the already strong horse even heavier and the not at all strong horse very fixed and gave me a *dead* contact.
much prefer the team up and have used that on a multitude of horses and problems always with 100% success.
Im on the fence with it at the mo. I was using the team up but wanted something that was a step up as mine is long and will fall out, lean and snatch at times but isnt strong. I asked NS and they said try it and im not sure it has made any odds.
Intresting that PS said it gave her a dead contact as although ive only used it once i felt they same but put it down to me being to heavy with my hands and just not riding him well. Im going to try again with it but im not sure its the right bit for mine and will go back to the team up.
My horse is also abit dead in it although I have found that he will respect it so useful for the odd reminder session then straight back to his normal french link and is usually much softer after a little reminder from the verbindend!
