I've been considering buying a new bit for Fred. Currently he is ridden in a Neue Schule loose ring lozenge.

He is lazy by nature (lol) and I've been working on getting him off the leg and generally 'sharper'.

Anyway, he always tends to poke his nose and resists a contact if he can. He does this with my trainer if he can as well. (Saddle, back, teeth etc all fine - had recent checks.)

I was wondering if maybe a NS verbindend or a lozenge hanging cheek might help lift him a little. He doesn't dive on his forehand with his head too low, he just pokes his nose out.

Anyone have any thoughts on verbindend v hanging cheek please?

thank you.

call ns - i need to as considering demi anky - mines pokes too.
mines balance issues which is why she does it which we working on. i have tried verbindend horse liked mouthpiece but hated loose rings.

could you try the NS tranze angled fixed ring lozenge snaffle..Good for horses with inconsistent contact and balance issues. I have just brought one for my girl going to try it today. If you go to the bit bank you can have it on a months trial and if it doesnt work they will advise something else. It may be worth calling jodie at the bit bank she is very helpful.

Give Heather at NS a ring. I use a NS baucher sucessfully - might be that he is trying to keep the contact steady and isn't liking the movement of a loose ring. Mine is the same.
