Hi guys, what do you think of the NEUE SCHULE bits? I am currently using a SPRENGER bit on my KWPN gelding and another single-jointed snaffle loose ring on my Thoroughbred mare, I cant say I am not pleased with these bits, but I was thinking whether switching to the NS would make any difference, and especially switching back to a double-jointed bit. Would you recommend any Neue Schule bit in particular, e.g. the tranz angled lorenze snaffle? The Start loose ring and the team up loose ring are mostly for starters right? Thanks a lot for your time.
 
I ride all of mine in NS bits with lozenges, really rate them, I've never had one that didn't like them.
 
I just use the tranz angled lozenge snaffles, no experience of any others as I haven't had the need. I've lent one to a few friends and all say their horses go really well in them, more so than other snaffles they've tried.
 
I use neue schule bits mainly for the big strong beastie as he can't lean on a Waterford mouthpiece so have various models of those snaffle to running gag and use the veribund
 
I used to ride my youngster in a full cheek snaffle with peanut roller which I thought he went well in, yet tried him in a NS verbindend and he goes even better!

Id definately rate them

Coming back on NS bits, I just tried the Verbindend on my mare, and the difference was huge, she was on the bit all the time with no effort at all, and seemed to be enjoying her exercise, definitely recommend it guys!

I am another fan of the NS bits, for hacking and schooling I have the loose ring tranz lozenge snaffle for my TB mare, she tends to lean but it much lighter in the hand with this bit is happily chomping away. I have bought NS waterford loose ring for SJ & XC which I am trying this wkd as she is quite keen jumping, hoping for a similar result :rolleyes:

Would recommend anyone to try them :D
 
I am very happy to spend the money on these bits, my horses love them and go so happily in them. The tranz lozenge mouthpiece as shown in the photo above, the "sides" vary depending on what they are doing.
 
My boy has a 70mm verbindend for his snaffle bridle and most recently a 55mm verdindend with a slimma weymouth for the double.

For a long time he was in a team up and was fine in it, but trainer wanted him to learn to come up in to a more advanced frame, and lift the shoulder, the verbindend has been a revelation :)
 
I swapped my TB out of a KK ultra loose ring snaffle which he seemed ok/happy in to a NS Verbindend (both 16mm mouthpiece) which has made a huge difference, I really rate NS both their bits and customer service. It is going to take a lot of convincing me to now use another brand of bit.
 
One of mine goes really well in a NS Universal Gag. We had problems with finding a suitable bit for him because he can be strong at times, but he has an unusually large tongue which made finding a suitable mouthpiece difficult. We changed from a straight bar happy mouth Dutch Gag to the NS Universal Gag and he is a different horse. He is a lot more relaxed in his mouth and a lot more willing to take the rein forward. NS bits are made from a special material called Sallox which encourages salivation. They are also shaped to fit the horses mouth so a lot of horses actually prefer them. Would definitely recommend you try one. :)
 
Another fan! My horse was fussy & difficult for years until I tried the starter bit, he eventually got too strong for that(he's generally strong wasn't the bits fault!) we graduated to the team up. I've tried the tranz angled & Verbindend but he didn't like them very much. Went back to the team up as realised it suits him very well. Friend has my old starter bit & her mare gies really well in it. I also have a universal for jumping which he goes well in.
 
My Westphalian Draft horse came in a French link Dutch gag, which I was told she was in because she ran off in a snaffle. She leaned on the gag. She needs a 61/2" bit, so my choice was limited. I went to a bitting clinic with Heather Hyde from NS and came away with a Tranz, which she schools very nicely in. She can be strong hacking, so she now has a Universal, with 2 reins which she goes (and stops) very well in.
This horse has a thick tongue and fleshy lips. TBH, I think very few horses are comfortable in a single-jointed bit.
 
Another fan here too. Use them on both my horses who have small delicate mouths for their 16.2 frames. Both really happy. My young mare came with a straight bar Happy Mouth and I quickly changed her to full cheeks jointed NS and she is much happier.

Incidentally they are both even happier when I smear Horse Health bit butter on their bit - that was one good recommendation from my friend !! :D
