I went to have lunch at the House of Lords and got onto the subject of the Fox Hunting Act and someone said 'why did we spend so much time talking about something so completely pointless?'

I did have to laugh at this and wonder, why was so much commons and lords time taken up discussing something which is essentially not the most important thing in the world?

I'm still on the fence with hunting and haven't been myself (yet) but I can't help but think there are more important things in the world than the demise of a few foxes?
 
Considering they discussed hunting for 700 hours, and discussing whether to go to war with Iraq for 7, you could say this is a government has got its priorities all wrong - and to them the death of a fox is far more important than the death of countless British soldiers and innocent civilians.
 
I think R2R got there before me, but to me it's still stupid that the government spent 100 times the amount of time discussing the ban than they did discussing Iraq....

especially to me, when one of my friends, who is a former Royal Marine (retired due to injury at age 33) just found out that he is the last one remaining of 20 guys he went through basic training with, and all 19 that have died did so in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan.
