Never Ending Infection

Seem to be posting a lot about my Arab mare just now.

She got infection at vet hospital in her jugular vein from catheter and abscessed. That was a month ago and still fighting infection. Today she abscessed again and incredibly painful for her. Still on antibiotics and bute. Hot pressing multiple times a day. She's now striking out with her front legs at me cause she's pissed off and sore.

Vets said carry on as doing and persevere.

Losing the will to live. Just looking to rant really.

Have they cultured the infection?

If the antibiotics are not working they should really do a culture so the right ones can be used, might be worth getting a different vet or speaking to the current one if it's dragging on.

They have cultured it twice. She was on two antibiotics and after first culture stopped one of them. They have cultured again but waiting on results.

No advice to offer, just sympathy. My mare developed an abcess on her neck following vaccinations once, and all the draining and treating it obviously hurt. It was heartbreaking to see my confident mare start hiding in the back of the stable every time someone she didn't know or the vet approached. She's fine now but still doesn't like vets.
