OK so here it is my bank sends me a Customer satisfaction survey I complain that I am not given a Direct Dial to my bank.
I get free 01 and 02 calls on my phone but not 0845 (please dont tell me they are free on BT I know!!)
They phone me and leave a message asking me to call back its a blinkin 0845 number so it costs me money to phone them back. Phone this number to explanin my complaint its engaged phone back again as its only fair to explain my frustration get told by girl on phone - we have no control over that its Head Office policy!

I know that, I dont care - I have complained and they should feed this back to head office otherwise what is the point of their Customer Stisfaction Survey. Do they just want me to say the sun shines out of their a@@se.

Obviously canNAT name the bank that isnt North South or East Grrrh!!

lol, sorry, I cant help but be amused by your subtle way of not telling us the name of the bank

Yup, that's just another money making spin for them! We had to deal with a TV company on Tues, they rang us, but kept getting cut off so we had to call them back - it cost me £24 as it took so long to get it all sorted and they kept placing us in queues!!

I am tempted to call up and ask for a discount as it was obv their phones that were the issue as it worked fine when we called them!

Barely a money making spin now - it's about 0.01ppm you get back - I work in Telecoms.

The reason we (I'm not the bank in question) and other organistations use non geographic numbers it the 'portability' and 'load balancing' If we use for example 01234 567890 (made up!) it can only route to that number.

If we use 0845 000 0000 we can 'load balance' calls between more than one call centre, we can provide options that then route to different locations, we can move the number quickly in the event of an office being out of action, we can route calls to different locations if one is being hammered with calls we can route calls basically how we want them - really boring job by the way

Agree though it is mighty annoying as I don't have a landline and it costs me every time - suggest you write/e-mail the bank asking them to provide an alternative DDI number (normal landline) as you are not happy to use the non geographic or that you are out of the country on business a lot and cannot call bank when not in the UK!

Other option is to look on www.saynoto0870.co.uk (I think) as it does have other non geographic numbers listed

Hope that makes sense of it a bit!
