myself or my horses and i've been on here a while now so i thought i would
I'm 19, I dream of breaking and producing my own horses. I'm currently studying a NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Riding and Training of Young Horses. I've also got a National Diploma in Horse Management and a NVQ Level 2 in Breeding. I'm an apprentice on a reputable stud yard.
I've got two horses, one which I own, a 14.1hh 18yo arab mare.
I got her as a rising 16yo straight out of the field, hadn't been ridden for 8 years due to no jockey and lack of time. I got her on loan for the summer, which turned into a permanent loan, which turned into me becoming her official owner. She was broken as a 5 year old, hacked a few times a month for a couple of years then turned out. She had laminitis as a 8 year old, and then again as a 9 year old. I didn't think it affected her as much until I found out her pedals have rotated. I found out when she went lame and wouldn't come sound, we found the cause of her lameness along with the fact her pedals rotated. She then went through a phase of not enjoying being ridden and she wasn't going near poles, where as she used to jump 1m10 tracks. I thought she was being a stubborn mare, then it clicked about her feet. Tried shoeing her (as previously her favourite trick was throwing farriers across the yard) and she knew it was for the best and stood quiet as a lamb whilst being shod in front. Now she's happy jumping 90cm tracks and she's like a new horse. She's definately my horse of a lifetime.
and I Hollie is my uncles who I have to bring on.
She's a 16.1/16.2hh thoroughbred mare, 5 year old. Got her from a dealer as a 3 year old, all skin and bone. She was trained to race but never made it to the track. After we bought her (was a sympathy buy) we found out her leg had been dyed with black dye, the dealer was covering up that fact she'd been pinfired. It was a really bad sale, they wouldn't let me ride her or anything, then we had passport issues. Got her back, out weight on her and then she threw me off into a wall, was a bad fall and it knocked my confidence for 6, got her back seen too and she was really sore. Got her back out hacking a couple of times a week (with alot of help with my instrctor and friends, i was petrified off her) then we gave her a year to mature. She really wasn't ready. She had a jockey over winter and she'd been battered with a whip. Then in May she came down to me, i've started teaching her to jump and I hope to get her out soon and about soon, once i've figured out how to control her energy. But with our past together, I now don't want to stop riding her.
I also have a youtube with regular videos off them
