New 4 x 4 recommendations to tow Equitrek please!

Thank you for all the feedback.

Have towed with a defender and loved it BUT found them hard work on long journeys, ie when not towing. So think I will discount that as need to drive around as part of the job and need something 'easy' to drive.

Kia sorentos are looking v good.

PS. I know cars should not be a fashion statement but I openly admit I am v v vain - come on its a new car - I have got to like it!
 
my landy is a fairly newish (57 plate) and i know what you mean about it being hard work, however mine has all the mod cons - air con, electric window, heated seats etc, so def been brought into the new age rather than stuck when they were 1st built 50+ years ago lol.
 
For Example the laden kerb weight of the Show Treka M (small one) is 2600kg so you would be borderline (uncomfortably so) if your car towed 2700kg.

The Shogun Sport has a tow capacity of 2800kg. I had an L200 (new) when I got my Show Treka... and then realised it wasn't legal to tow it laden... oops, shame, had to get a Shogun...

hmmmm, thank you - will have a chat with the HR department andcheck how much I can spend....! Really like the old one my parents have and if they have come in to the modern age, it could well be a contender.

i've just gone through this - considered the soft wheel drives (freelander etc) etc but even though i only ever tow one horse (HRH wont abide partitions

) with a 505 i decided in the end i still wanted the higher tow capacity and larger engine as i tow about once a week and just feel safer being well covered by capacity.

anyway - i have got myself a ssangyong rexton - love it so far - more economical (and more luxurious

I tow my Show Trekka M with a SWB Shogun 2.8 TD, however I only take one 14hh pony so am within the weights, but would be unable to take 2 large horses. It tows well, is very stable & copes well under braking. If I were to buy a larger horse, then I agree that I would have to look at the LWB. Shogun has been great in all the snow though.
