Hiya
Just seen these referred to in another post, and wondering what they are? Guessing its not the old post-'97 licence thing as that isn't really a new thing, so a bit worried now that the 7.5 tonner I just bought is going to have to be altered or something??
Can anyone tell m what is changing?

Are you talking about the horseboxes in london? It is possible that all the horseboxes in london will have to be modified to meet certain standards - not sure if this is what you are talking about - there is an article on this though in this months Your Horse magazine.

What rules are you referring to exactly

There are loads of 'new' rules....some to do with eligibility to drive said vehicles, others to do with side lights / mot etc...

Not sure about the london thingy....
Don't know how to put a link up to a post but it is a side-track topic on the one below where sportznight is talking about transporting 3 horses and the possibility of using a 3.5ton lorry or licences etc.
I know about the eligibility thing (took my HGV test to fix that problem), also about the sidelights (my lorry old enough not to need these added).
I'm not sure what new rules they are, hence my post really

I'll go see exactly what was said and try to do a quote...

With all the new regs coming in 7.5 tonners are soon going to be worthless. Think youd be stretching it to get those 3 on a 7.5 limit anyway.
Id buy a 3.5 ton and only take 2 at a time, or take your HGV. Think the HGV license is about £1000.

In the post 'following on from other post....transport' by sportznight, quote from vicijp?
Just wondered if it was some other new rule I hadn't heard about yet?!?

No, this isn't referring to 'new' rules, just that existing weight rules are being more rigorously enforced now and so many people with 7.5t'ers won't be able to use them to carry the loads they used to

Oh phew!!! Having just spent £5000 I really couldn't afford on a lorry and an HGV licence I was seriously concerned by that post!!! Thanks for that Rambo.
