Anyone used it? Is it as paletable as Alfa A?

How much less sugar has it got in?

I notice it is higher in DE.

Pony looks superb on Alfa A, but can boil over with too much sugar and we aren't having any problems atm, but I would rather feed more fibre when she starts to drop weight, than use anything else - I usually add Fibre Plus Cubes or sunflower seeds.

Part of me is loathe to change as it works but....a little bit of me thinks it would be much better....
 
I got a sample from the feed place last weekend.
Its very similar to hi fi but has pellets in it which I didnt expect.

Cant really say much else unfortunately but they seemed to enjoy it.
 
Have started using the HiFi Molasses Free and ponies are very impressed with it :D Mind you, they'd eat anything, but I think they like the fact it's got pellets (alpha, allegedly) so it's like a "real" feed like the horses get haha. It's so so soft and smells delicious and apparently has less sugar than the HiFi Lite. Would assume the Alpha A Molasses Free is similarly yum to them! I guess they have to make them more yum as there is no sugar to appetise?!
 
I bought a bag of each-and my youngster loves the Alfa and my retired good doers love the HiFi.I agree it looks like a complete feed with the added pellets. The oldies much prefer it to Hi Fi Lite-it smells delicious too with the added mint and fenugreek.I think I won't bother with nuts at all for them this winter-Ithink this HI fi and speedibeet will be better for them. My youngster is looking really well too just on the Alfa with speedibeet and again seems to prefer this to the original Alfa A she used to have.
 
Sounds like it might be worth a shot - Am going to give Dengie a ring to find otu how much less sugar it has.

By the looks of it, I would be able to feed more of that, rather than adding her 'fat' food come winter as its higher in DE than normal Alfa A - Shes not keen on AlfaA Oil tho. Maybe Dengie can send me a sample pack....!
 
Hi, I have switched to the Non mloassed Hi-Fi but looked into the Non molassed Alfa. The NM Alfa has 4.5% sugar.

I rang Dengie and got samples of both, feed balancers and everything, very helpful and neddy very pleased!

My horse love the NM Hifi and a friend of mine is on the NM Alfa and her horse really enjoys it.
 
is it quite a soft texture? one of mine is inclined to choke if I feed a chaff that is too soft with beet & soaked alfa nuts, as it seems to ball together. He's fine on alfa oil but I can't feed happy hoof or anything similar

Well that's what I thought too, but I just wondered if the Dengie sales people had some silver tongued spiel ready which would make people go for the New products over the ones which have been about for donkeys years ;)

I must phone them up and ask, seeing as how nobody else seems to have done so... Interesting though that they don't mention sugar and starch on the "older" Alfa A products, so you can't do a straightforward comparison. Grrrrr

When I called they told me both aa product were molasses free, the sugar % was from what naturally occurs in aa.

The aa molasses free has less oil in compared to the aa oil.

Well I tried her with the sample I got - it was an unenthusiastic response for sure - She ate it because I gave it to her out of a feed scoop, but no licking the scoop or trying to eat all the scraps. She wasn't that keen...
