The search for a confidence giving (but not ploddy) hacking horse for my Mum was a success. She fell in love with the first horse we went to see... a 16h 6yr old Appaloosa called Noah.

We were looking for something a bit older but Noah was so safe when we tried him out. He has done a bit of everything, is excellent in traffic and was very quiet and sweet natured. He will be the first horse my mother has had for herself in over 40 years! Noah is also big enough that my Stepdad can finally have a go and my OH too (my horse Belle is too nutty for a beginner!).

The owner is desperate to stay in touch and has owned him since he was 2. He originally came from Denmark where he was broken to drive. Below are a few photos - we are so excited! Mum was drawing spots in the mist on her car. :p I will get some more pics when he arrives.

Several people have said he's ugly but I think he's adorable!

he is gorgeous!
I love appies. I trusted my 3 year old appy with my complete novice younger cousin and she coped fine with him. would trust him with anyone :)

It must be an appy thing! our rising 3 year old is a total gem! I'm giving him to my 6 yr old niece for christmas as I have never met a more loving, genuine, child suitable pony. I'd still prefer her to have an older more established pony, but they genuinely adore each other and I trust him more than the section a we had on loan for her.

He is lovely.... lovely markings and a kind face...

but yes on the appy thing....

I backed my Appy Stallion this year, but still only ridden him 15ish times, had a 9 year old on him the other week.. and ive been hacking him out alone and with his mum and he has been perfect... and he does know what mares are all about ;-)

Ugly!! He's bloody gorgeous! (although i've always had a soft spot for appies) I hope all goes well, he sounds like a lovely sort. More photos once you get him home please :D

Thanks everyone!

I got my horse, Belle, in October last year and she is finally turning into a sweetheart after a year of patience. I hope that this new boy will settle in quicker and then Mum and I can go hacking together, something I think we've done maybe just twice even though we've had horses/ponies all my life!

Noah will hopefully be a sensible hack for Mum but will also get to do some more fun things too - we have a couple of good horsie friends that can come and ride him so he can do more things like jumping, galloping etc. I just hope Belle is nice to him. :D Mum has also expressed an interest in fun rides and that sort of thing so perhaps we will look into raising funds for a trailer so that we can go adventuring. :)

Thanks for your kind comments.
