My aunt got a new colt yesterday which was quite shocking to me because she is a complete mare nut!

He is a full brother to one of her faves though ( taffy) so she fell in love with him. It was a bit spontaneous. He is 4 months old and after weaning and a weekend of shows planned for him he will be all hers
I cant wait to see him in person. he is a 4 month old AQHA colt and I dont even know his name yet!

Being called craig Jr temporarily as a joke.

Damn, he's seriously cute! Having worked on a stud, I'm a bit ho-hum about foals but QH foals always make me melt!

I've got to try and save up for a QH youngster - I have a lovely mare that I share with my husband (she won her first Grand Champion title this weekend) but we definitely want another one. He looks like exactly what I have in mind - how is he bred?

Nice (understatement) but he would be if he is a full sibling to the lovely Taffy.

Wooooooo, lots of Impressive in there.

Does he have to be tested? Second thoughts, having looked at his lines again that is a silly question (although I am sure the breeders are sensible) he's positively wriggling with Impressive isn't he?!

I had a mare in yesterday with some Impressive and a lot of "Bars" in there, her N/N result was stamped on her papers.

Have you ever come across a horse called Bar Dawson in your travels around cyber pedigrees? I am drawing a blank on her.

Do not recall Bar Dawson but I am hopless at the pedigree names anyhow and pay little attention to them.

I am fairly sure both of this colt parents are tested NN so I am not sure if he needs a blood test or not. ( he may have already had one too?) I will ask my aunt as she will know more of the specifics. They have changed so many of the requirements recently regarding Impressive stock (thankfully!) I am fairly certain you are no longer even able to register a horse testing anything other than NN. Or is it NN and NH you can and HH you cannot?
I hope it is just NN as NH odds are 50% to cary the gene and not that great.

Some sick people WANT HYPP to develop for muscle mass

I checked yesterday, NN and NH are OK for registration. Although you wouldn't breed two NH because of the 50/50 risk as you know, and better not to breed them at all I guess, but when money talks some people don't care.

Some of the halter horses are gross aren't they? Remind me of nothing more than beef cattle. How anyone can find that attractive is beyond me.

Any recent Taffy pics?

I think it's a shame that any horses with the posibility of passing it on are allowed to be registered and bred. Even a 25% chance is too high imo. Where do you draw the line though? Then they would have to require any possibility for any genetic defect to be tested for and ban all of those horses from being registered too? It could get too complicated and as you say....money money money. People love their Impressive horses for everything else they pass on! This problem is so isolated though that it would be easy to eradicate from breeding programs so that makes it a shame.

LOL! "Beef cattle" that is what I have always said!

now if you ask my aunt she DROOLS over the beefiest of the beefy! She is a halter girl at heart though and that is what she focused on in her show career.

To me most of them look like they are on massive steriods

much like I do not find body building men very attractive

Don't get me wrong....I love a stocky quarter horse! Just not SO massive that you start thinking about grilling T bones.

No recent pics of Taffy on this lappy. Just ones from Winter time that I already posted. She is looking GORGOEUS though and I regret not grabbing her for myself when I had the chance. My aunt did not show her at all this year but has been doing a lot with her at home. She plans to get back out there next year and I will hold her to it! ( as that is what she said this past year lol)

I stick to my dependable Geriatric oddballs so no pressure for getting back in the ring for me

How is your leg btw?
