So we are still deliberating what breed to go for next but while I was looking, I found this wee girl on a rescue site and she came home this morning. Complete poppet, seems brilliant around stock (and cats, although cat is outraged), well trained and just really happy to be out of kennels. We've been for a walk and both dogs are now crashed out. Couldn't resist her!

well she's just come round with me to muck out and she was perfect. don't think she's had much stimulation since xmas. Old dog seems to be loving the company as well. weird having a short hair, been about 20 years since the last one!

more walks today and more working (i.e. being a yard dog and supervising the ducks). She travels well, pulls on a collar but walks very nicely in a harness and while I'd not trust her to not counter surf (bearing in mind the setter we've lived with for 12 years is completely uninterested in food) she doesn't scrounge when we are eating. She is epileptic but it seems very well under control.

Anyone want to hazard what breeds are in there? I know what the original owners were told but interested what people might say first up. She has a broader head than it appears in the photo, taller than knee high and 20 kgs.

She is lovely and sounds like she has landed on her paws with you. I can see bits of staffie, foxy, possibly a bit of basenji. Why did she end up in rescue?

oh definitely staffie. there is something else though almost husky-like about her sometimes-more when you see her moving and a certain expression but who knows. I thought it yesterday and then OH said it independently. It's a long time since I was around huskies so maybe its just the tail! The owners got her as a pup from another charity and were told Plummer terrier

silv-I don't know much. The husband died at some point last year, the wife then also became ill and was in high dependancy care and she died within the last two weeks. The daughter put her in kennels just before xmas and used this charity to find her a home-generally with them there are no kennels involved.
