Shadow.
RIP my beautiful, beautiful boy, I'll love you forever.

He's gone now and in a much better place.

But as one door closes another opens. I've now taken delivery of a new arrival. I'd seen this advert a month or two ago and kept thinking about ringing, I'm so glad I did.

A 15 month old 3/4 friesan, 1/8 TB, 1/8 Trak colt. Spookily enough he's spent the first 15 months of his life being known as Shadow. I don't want to change his name as it's bad luck but his nickname is Stitch.

This boy is going to be a heart breaker! He's 15hh and a lovely dark brown (although a friend of a friend visited last night and said "Oh what a shame he's brown"!!! - needless to say she nearly got a punch on the nose). He has the typical friesan look and personality and hasn't put a foot wrong so far - loaded and travelled , stabled, led out, etc like a superstar. If I get technically minded I will try and upload some pictures.

So can anyone tell me, if he's 15hh now (DOB 08/05/06) what height will he make. Mam is a 16.1 1/2 friesan X and dad is a 16.3 pure friesan?

Taken from another post;
You told me about that great method for determining height, where you measure from the elbow to mid fetlock and then invert the tape to see how many more inches above the wither my horse would grow.

I did that, and at that time, he was 14.2 at most. The tape gave me about 2-3 inches higher. He is now 2 years old and just barely 15 hands. He is out of a 16.0H shire mare with a TB father who I was told was 16.1H, however, I can not find any more information about my horse's father.

I know that horses can grow until they are age 5-6, but are there any exceptions regarding horses who can and do mature very early?
