I’m thinking of changing my Irish sports horses but currently she’s in a very simple snaffle and as her other riders are a. Lot taller and stronger than me I think it would be a good idea to change it, I don’t know what to put her in she’s very strong hacking and jumping but schools beautifully any recommendations??

So from your previous posts you're a teenager and your horse is a loan (actually a share?), and she has gone from you posting to ask about how to sort her being slow and unresponsive in December to asking for bitting solutions for her being too strong in early January.

This really sounds like a training issue at the moment, so I'd be reluctant to advise you to use a stronger bit. Are you getting advice from the owner or an instructor?

Absolutely this - assuming the horse is a reasonably sensible type, the rider's size and weight shouldn't really be influencing the choice of bit *that* much (yes this is a big generalization but in this particular case I suspect it's true). I doubt that the horse's other riders are using their weight and strength to lean on the bit to stop her, instead they're probably using their ability to ride (sorry, that sounds very harsh and it wasn't meant to) to make sure she's listening to them and responding to their aids. It sounds like you need an instructor to help you get the horse listening to you properly going both up and down the gears, and that there are bigger issues you need to address first before thinking about tweaking the horse's bit - particularly given that the horse is presumably comfortable and happy in her current bit. Putting a stronger bit in without experienced help may well just result in an unhappy horse.

Can you watch the horse's other rider(s) jumping her, and see how they ride and how she goes? That might be interesting and useful, but nothing is a substitute for your own lessons.

I’ve been having lessons with an instructor and she has previously been in a stronger bit and the owner has actually advised me to do that she was in the stronger bit quite a long time ago so she’s forgotten what she put her in, yes in December I couldn’t find her buttons but we’ve had an instructor and I’ve found them and this is what she’s usually like now.
