Hi all,

Newby here and also new to riding. Gareth, 37, from Wimbledon in south London.

Divorced just over a year ago, so trying to do lots of things I’ve always meant to do, including horse riding.

I joined to ask a specific question, but the site seems like a warm and welcoming place so I may stick around.

if anybody is local to me it would be great to hear about the best places for new riders.

Take care
Gareth

Welcome! Fellow Londoner here. Your best bet riding wise is to check out the yards around Richmond - the park makes for nice hacking - or to go a little farther afield to Chessington. Your closest yard is probably Wimbledon Village Stables, but they currently don't take beginners (presuming that you are a beginner) except for their mechanical horse lessons, which might be of interest.

Stag Lodge do private hacks in the park and at Stag Lodge 2, give school lessons too. I started my hacking life there and had a very happy time.

Thank you. Chessington is not that far. Thanks ?- I’ve had my initial sessions close to Morden

Hiya, also fellow south Londoner. Wildwoods (Headley) and Silvermere (Cobham) are both good riding stables, but a bit further out than the ones already mentioned on here.
