I can't be the only person struggling to find a pair of fetlock boots that don't break this new rule, can I?
The ones I've found without elastic air around the back of the fetlock and the ones that sit on the inside have elastic

Would someone please enlighten me as to which fetlock boots I can use?
I'd rather buy the 'correct' ones at the start :)

i know the girl i work for has just got some eskadron ones very plain and boring to use instead of her veredus ones! they dont match now :O sorry dont know many else - i'd be looking at the cheap boring ones they seem to fit the bill!! im pretty sure my £12 robinsons pair fit the guide lines :L

I'm pretty sure you are allowed elastic on fetlock boots for all 'normal' classes, the only boots you now aren't allowed in any class are 'pinch' boots (ie, not smooth around the inside). the no elastic rule is only for newcomers/fox second rounds and age classes, as i understand it.
hope this helps :)

which I'm hoping we'll have a shot at - It does say no elastic on the back boots though. That would mean having to buy a second set of fetlock boots so we're not breaking any rules

I've found a set of veredus boots that would be ok :) The Pro Lights?

It is all explained here: http://www.britishshowjumping.co.uk/_files/Rule Changes as at 13.6.12..pdf
Basically, there have been two new rules regarding boots. The first was only to affect new/fox second rounds and age classes, and is a little bit complicated to understand! this is the rule that involves no elastic, certain height measurements and weights.
There was then an 'amendment' posted on BS website regarding this rule, which is the link that another poster and put above, so that still only applies to the above classes.

Secondly, last week the BS put out another rule, that takes affect from the tomorrow, which states that no boots with rigid or semi-rigid inserts in the lining (pinch boots) may be worn in ANY class. So, most fetlock boots should be okay still, apart from the performance enhancing ones :)

It does seem all a bit confusing to me, as we are at lower levels then it seems I can still use the boots I have, but poor pro riders all seeking decent looking legal boots.

Gah, my friend wanted a pair of legal 'pinch' boots and we bought some at Bramham, I just can't remember which ones they were, they have a double strap, but were velcro with no elastic so were legal.....

Sooo *Numpty Eventer Alter*.....

These:

are not legal for any BS class are they? They also have small lumps inside that contours to the leg (I'm guessing BS would now class these as pinch boots?!)

So I need to go shopping before our winter BSing don't I??

Also wouldnt be legal, as they have the little contors on the inside so are,in BS's eyes "pinch" boots??

So, the only ruling that people need to worry about if not doing Newc/Fox second rounds or age classes is the one regarding the inside of the boot being flat, with no ridges? So the boots that sit at the back of the fetlock rather than on the inside are ok still?

Like these...

I think so, but I'm not sure (without seeing a pic) if those specific boots are smooth on the inside. My brown leather MT's are not, they have little moulded bits on the inside, which, if I have understood it all correctly, means I cannot use them under BS rules... :(
