I have a sweet new cob. Clipping off his feathers for medical reasons, do you think I should hog too? I'm going to tidy his mane if not. Pic attached

Do it! It’ll grow back if you hate it. With legs off, I’d say hog, yes. If he’s got mites, ask your vet about Dectomax, it rid my hairy monster of them overnight. If it’s Mallenders/Sallenders, mine responds best to plain old baby oil, very regularly. If it’s none of these, ignore me!

Lovely looking boy.

If he was mine it would be a firm no, not ever, ever, ever to the hogging as I do not like it at all (and for some reason dislike it more and more as time goes by). I find it aesthetically awful, it takes away their natural protection and I do not like riding hogged horses. However he is not mine, he is yours, so you can do as you please RE his mane. :)

Personally I think he would look very smart hogged with trimmed legs, although it's more important that you go with what you are happy with. If you hog then, as others have said, if you don't like it you can always let it grow back :)
