Hi,

I just wondered what epoples thoughts were on giving a new code for Elimination XC if it has been by doubling your optimum time.

I did this in a Novice at Burnham Beeches I had a fall on the flat in between fences therefore incurring no penalties and I jumped around the course clear again incurring no penalties, but was eliminated for doubling the optimum time, fair enough that this is a rule BE have stated but do you think there should be a code on the British Eventing website saying DT or something standing for doubled time, as an E on my record looks like I have had trouble at a fence or something not that I had no jump penalties just time elimination! What are yoru thoughts guys?

No I dont wish to sell him so it isnt really a problem for me. Just thought as they have a code for all other eventualities that they aybe should have a code for this?

Hi
The codes are not always right, I had the most horrid fall both Saf and I and it showed as E not HF but can't say I am really bothered, if anyone ever asks I can say exactly how she went at every event. I also got 20 pens for stopping at a change in surface not the fence but someone looking at my record would think that was at a fence

Don't suppose there are enough codes for all the things that can happen eventing as I am begining to find out

On our eventing ireland site there is a space where the scorers can type in freehand a reason if there has been an elimination, ie missed part B of fence 15, exceeded time limit, wore boots into dressage arena etc.
It is greatly appreciated in the office, because people don't have to ring up to ask why they were elim, it is on the site for everyone to see.

That sounds great Fiona!

I understand that there can be a code for everything that happens but there should be for at least the things they have listed in the schedule.

e.g: 4 refusals overall XC, 3 at one fence (which there are codes for) then doubling the optimum time yet there is no code for this.

Don't forget the poor scorers and stewards and the rest trying as hard as possible to get results out in reasonable time. Anything to make their task more complex would be unwelcome.

I think the answer is for you to keep your own records so if and when it's time to sell, you can produce your results with your notes for each event. As a buyer, that would impress me. The fact that you have had a couple of incomplete successes is only to be expected.

At a recent event of mine, a certain international rider of collosal fame nearly took double the time because he was taking a youngster round and put in a lot of loops to get the horse right before presenting for jumps. I'm sure he doesn't want a 'note' or 'code' for that.

I hope I have made my point in a friendly way - I'm always told I sound too aggressive!!

I *think* (you'll need to double check) that it is OT - over time. We do a lot of xc control at BE events and it's sometimes interesting to then go and see the results on the BE website. At a recent event a couple were eliminated for going over allowed time (which is double optimum time) and it said OT next to the E. Maybe some events don't pass that information on and just give BE the E!!!

It's the code the scorers use at the end of every section if the horse has completed correctly ie the others are - did not finish, elim, retired, hor concours etc.
