New Cushings treatment?

My mares got a case of low grade laminitis, she’s previously had a Cushings test and was slightly above the normal level. Wasn’t getting on with the prascend as even tiny dose was too high. Now 5 years on we’ve retested due to this laminitis case and levels are double expected for this time of year.

Vets suggested that we trial a new version of prascend that comes in a paste/liquid. Apparently it’s not licensed yet but they have seen really good results with it so far and it’s much easier to get accurate smaller doses. Waiting for details to be sent out so was wondering if anyone had tried this?

I’ve been told I have to sign a disclaimer as I’m guessing is normal in these circumstances?

Ooh yes, hadn’t even thought to check there duh! ?

It's the same drug as Prascend, just in liquid form, so it should be effective.

It's fiddly to get anything under 1/2 a Prascend tablet accurately split up.

Oh tell me about it, 1/2 tablet was too much originally so we are looking at starting on the equivalent of the 1/3 in the liquid form

9 times out of 10 I manage to cut the little pill into quarters using a pill cutter, I keep the bits in the plastic cutter container until needed and stuff the quarter tab into a holed out carrot. Would that be worth trying. Ive got a Sec b on a quarter tab per day and this does seem to work

I’ll see how she gets on with the paste first, I used to push the half tablet into a slice of apple but had to watch like a hawk because she would still manage to spit it out occasionally ??‍?
