New dog is here 🥰

It's odd that he defaults to the "I am in charge and you will do as you are told NOW" response as when we've discussed possible reasons she's had 3 failed rehomes he's the one who's said maybe people have tried to be too alpha with her! As I say it's only on the odd occasions when she gets too silly that there's a problem, the fewer walks in this heat are not helping nor is the fact that she apparently read the Malamute manual that says they can't be off lead ( we trained the other 3 to have good reliable recall but I don't see that in this one), will have to look at renting out an enclosed field for her sometimes.

Yep, not only do dogs not understand the meaning of the words of the English language, they are also non verbal, and for the vast majority, work off even the tiniest influence of our body language and the (stress) signals we give out.
This one's not non verbal, she loves a "chat" with OH, she doesn't chat to me but she does woo woos when he appears, he is obviously the fun parent 😔

Does your dog ever behave so well that you start to worry something is wrong lol. I mean Tala has been pretty good all things considered from the beginning, but the last few days she's been extra good, hasn't even tried to chase an electric bike on her walks 🤣

I got a random Facebook message from someone last night who thought she was the same dog they had looked after in dogs trust. She had seen a picture I put on a dogs trust post about their under dogs and messaged to see if she was the same one. Apparently thus girl looked after her for 12 months at the site that had 3 failed rehomes for her, she was worried about what would happen to her in the next centre so is very happy that cardiff managed to rehome her so quickly and that this home is sticking. She said lots of the other staff found her very challenging and were happy when she was transferred but she just thought she was cheeky / sassy and a bit too clever. She sent me some pictures and videos which were lovely and 1 had her playing with her best friend, who was a husky... that explains the over excitement when she sees a husky on a walk lol.

So the good behaviour (mostly) is continuing and we are just past 6 months. She will now resist chasing squirrels unless they move very fast but will dance on her hind legs if they are up trees lol. She needs a shiort lead around scooters but bikes are a doddle now ( even when they appear from nowhere). Impulse control when greeting people is still a work in progress, mostly she's good, I put her in a sit and scatter some treats to get her attention "down instead of up" and if they fuss her as soon as she goes for the treats everything is fine, if they dither and the treats are gone then it's not so good. Also if they are calm and chilled we're all good, if they are excited ( coz she's so lush don't ya know 😜) then any training is out the window!!
We had to start looking for a dog walker for her recently as there's some days coming up when we are going to be out too long visiting family, she scared the first one off but the 2nd one was great with her and thinks she's fab, that woman has a cacausian x carpathian x kangol so I'm not surprised she found Tala so easy.
Also ( coz I found it funny) she caught a balloon on today's walk, popped the balloon, couldn't work out where the balloon had gone, she was genuinely hunting all around for it, it was hilarious.
