We have a new rescue greyhound, she's just settling in after a good explore around the house and is currently entranced by the tv and Topgear! But she has no concept of reacting to her racing name - and we aren't that keen on it, so we are thinking of changing it before we start any recall work.
So is it considered bad form to change names ?
If not.... then
I have a thing about not calling dogs or horses human names - so any suggestions which aren't girls names?
She's very small for a greyhound and mostly black with white socks and breast.

Well, our older dog is called Sox because of his white sockx so you could call her that?! Our other dog is called Boots! lol (they both had their names wehn we got them though - it was meant to be!)

her racing name is/was Greyabby. I always think of how a name sounds when you are yelling across a big field, so both Pie and Sox work for that....our other greyhound is called Maisey, if that helps...

Ahhh good luck with your new dog. We have just had a pup from Greyhound gap who is settling in well. OH's parents lurcher was same colouring as yours and was called Shoey because he looked like he had shoes on.

I will try and post some pictures tomorrow, but trying not to make too much fuss just now... lots of things to her seem to be new.... the fire has been source of much interest!
I am trying out a few words now to see if any responses....

Here they both are

taken a few minutes ago... but could you tell which is the new girl?

I've just been looking that up, found a very good website greyhound -data, and their paternal grandfather was "Top Honcho" which I have discovered was a very prolific sire in Ireland. So not sure what relation that actually makes them, but they are related - what a strange coincidence.

Well, although we got some really good suggestions here, about 4am this morning, when I was awake, checking she was sleeping peacefully, I suddenly thought... Casey...., just a little tomboy like, works well with Maisey, and when I woke OH up...he thought it good to!
