Hello lovely HHO'ers

I'm extremely excited today as my new Dream Team Treeless saddle has arrived and it is Gorgeous!!!!

They have only just launched it and i pre-ordered it last month so it feels like it has taken forever to arrive!

I just wondered if anyone else had ordered one and what they thought? It would be great to comare notes???

Thanks Em

I've searched and finally found a photo. Does it still have the solid pommel and cantle as used in the Torsion? Do you know if they have done anything about the old way of sitting the stirrup bars at each end of a strip of webbing? It looks a pretty saddle, but I prefer the ones that don't have a rigid pommel.
Be interested to hear how you get on.

The pommel is still fairly rigid so will have to let you know how it feels when being ridden in, the stirrup bars are in fact metal rectangles and are attached under the seat with leather loops. It is incredibly light and the english style flaps make it look almost 'normal'. Very excited about riding in it so will have to let you know!

i saw that in Your Horse magazine and was tempted to put a deposit on one, but my friend had problems with her treeless, can you let me know if its any good to jump in etc. would be interesting to know.

I love the look of it!

Definitely will let you all know! Won't be able to jump my mare in it unfortunately as she has back "issues" hence the reason i bought the treeless! I have been riding her in a friends treeless and she has been much happier allthough i can report that i sat to a vertical rear in it and it was very secure! hopefully the new one will be as good if not better! so far i can tell you that it is beautifull looking and fab quality softest leather! Will try it on friends horses as well to see how it works on others!!!

I saw it in Your Horse magazine and thought it looked very comfy. Was umming and ahhing about one for my chunky cob. But needed to know more about them etc so will look forward to any updates

Have always highly rated the Torsion, and think this one looks good. Would love to hear how you are getting on in a month or so.

To anyone thinking of trying treeless, don't dismiss them all just because maybe you've heard or experienced bad about one make. In design and quality they vary hugely. There is some absolute rubbish on EBay for example, all the way from India. I've heard good about the Barefoot saddles though, and I really like my Freeform (from Goldfinch saddles, beware cheap imitations). I also have a Sensation, which feels lush to ride in, and have had a HM Fhoenix, which quite frankly was "the dogs", once I'd sorted the rather fiddly fitting it needed for my horse.
What I meant about the stirrups is that Torsion used to have a single strip of webbing running inside the saddle, straight across the horse's back. The ends of this webbing were where the stirrup bars were attached. This could mean that if the rider was in the habit of putting weight in the stirrups continually, there would be pressure problems. This could be alleviated by using a pad with memory foam, something like a Skito pad for example.
Some of the other treeless saddles of similar design (like the Dartmoor Treefree for example) suspended the stirrups from webbing that was set out in a V shape, so distributed the weight more efficiently.
Probably none of these saddles with blocks fore and aft do the job of weight distribution as well as something like a Heather Moffet saddle though.
