I am just trying to confirm that as of 1st Dec the pts barriers for BD are going to be increased. My boy and I are currently on 117 pts and are out of Novice and competing in Ele's.

As of 1st Dec the new pts limit for Novice is going to be 124, does this mean we are eligible to compete novice again - if only for 7 pts???

Just want to confirm before I carry on merrily competing :-)

yes it does

can someone clarify that one? Because I was of the belief that I could compete Novice Open (not that I've done it yet, cos I cant be bothered to warm up in a snaffle for a novice test and then change into double for elem - he goes much better in double)
I know that I have to be in the open section to compete my lower level horse though!

If your horse has 127 points, it is out of Novice both now and from 1 Dec as the upper limit will move to 124 then. You may not compete that horse in Novice classes other than HC.

You may compete any other horse with fewer than 125 points in Novice, but will probably have to ride in the Open section, unless you personally have won 14 points or fewer at Elementary.

If you have won points at Medium or above you will definitely have to ride as Novice Open.

Because you - the rider - Ovidius - are now Group 6 and therefore no longer able to ride Novice Restricted. You must ride in the Open section - if you have a horse within Novice points.

Your horse with 127 points is out of Novice, but if you get the ride on another horse with fewer than 125 points after 1 Dec, you can compete it in Novice - but only in the Open section.

That is assuming that you have put all the 52 elem points on the horse yourself. If you haven't, and you personally have only earned up to 14 points at elementary, then you can revert back to group 7 and Nov restricted from 1 December.

Thank you Troi..... Yes I have a Prelim/Novice horse, so can ride him in the open section..... And no I've not put the 52 elem points on..... I've earned less than 14, so that means I can go group 7 and do Novice???

Yes - but you must contact the BD office and formally apply to be put back to Group 7, and therefore Nov rest, where you will remain until you exceed 14 Elem points on any horse.
