I'm losing the will to live over this. I finally thought I'd found a keen young rider to event my now 7 year old mare, and bring on some youngsters.
However things haven't worked out, and I'm back to square one, with a fit little mare who really needs to get out and have a full seasons eventing.
So..... if anybody knows anybody, please, send them my way!!
Quick criteria, must be fairly small to match the mare, have experience up to BE100 at least, and be keen to succeed. I'm prepared to stand all costs and at a pinch send the mare to their yard, but under strict conditions, as I've seen how quickly things can go wrong in the wrong yard.
Wish me luck!!!

There are a lot of young event riders looking for rides on horsequest?

http://www.horsequest.co.uk/2/horses-for-sale/20/wanted/212/wanted-horses

if you scroll down you will find a few?

It's a pity you're so far away really! Will keep an ear out if we hear of anyone who is more your way/ someone who can do the travelling.

Why don't you go look round a few pc rallies and see if there's any one you like the look of? Most of the riders that I'd want to take mine out don't advertise they just have their own that they ride.

I'd definitely look at Alex Postolowsky, she has a good reputation and when I saw her ride she was very nice and stylish. Or, if she's small enough, Rosie Chinery, definitely.
Tbh I'd go for someone with a bit more experience than BE100, if it was my young horse. Things do go awry, obv, and someone with more experience will cope better 99 times out of 100.

Jess butler. She'd fit your bill and the horses are really loved and cared for. Pm me for details (don't think her website is working at the moment (their error not hers)).

Two of the names mentioned, seem to have a lot of horses competing, I'm looking for a small yard, as the mare needs to get a relationship with her rider.

There is absolutely no reason why a horse cannot build a relationship with a rider just because they have multiple horses.

S*ds law that we are in different parts of the country as you are exactly what I am looking for! I have an advert on H.Quest and have had nothing suitable as yet.

I'm sure you will find somebody though - you should be inundated!! :-)

Same here wrong area of the country - is just what my daughter is looking for!! Anyone in Cheshire/Staffs in the same boat??? Good luck you should have laods of offers!;)

Ros Canter in Lincolnshire. She's small, hasn't got a vast number of horses. Lovely yard run by her & her mum. Horses get turn out every day.

I doubt you'll find anyone reliable who doesn't expect to earn something for their trouble CG and most of the names mentioned wouldn't have time to come to you so would want them at their yard. This would obviously cost more money.
Good luck in your search.

You seem to be stuck between 2 markets.

There are prob plenty of young riders who would like a second ride, Of these those that wouldn't want paying are likely to be PC riders, however most with their own horse and doing well will want the horse at their yard as they are prob also at school or college so won't have the time .

The alternative is paying someone for their time to ride and exercise, obviously this can get expensive.

Have you contacted local PC's RC's etc.

Are you near a local uni? You may find a rider through there riding club (I know B has been asked to school and ride a few horses but prefers to ride her own in her limited time off) Downside of this is you would prob lose the rider from May to Oct - most of the event season.

I find the only way to get reliable help is to pay for it.

Rosie Chinery. Or Lolo's sister?

If Al was experienced enough (she's only got getting horses to BE100, and PC Opens under her belt in terms of competing), we live the wrong end of the neighbouring county so Al couldn't afford the time out of her working week. Which is gutting, but it is such a nice little mare I'm sure cundlegreen will find someone in no time at all :)

It might be worth contacting your local PC branch- they're a good one, I think.

Kevin Woods? He's in Essex though. Ex Kings Troop RHA Equitation Instructor. Fabulous rider, great with youngsters. I'd have no hesitation sending one of ours to him. He was my OH's boss for many years in the Troop and still travels over to us in Surrey to do clinics. I know he's evented to Intermediate (sorry, old money), but don't know about beyond that. He's not a youngster though lol!

Could I also suggest EmilyTaggart? She is very quiet but completely focused rider and actually likes the sharp OTT types. She gave up her job in order to focus on her dream of eventing and has so far produced her own horses upto Novice, had to sell one as is the way and the other one will be aiming for 2* this year. Another two she produced are also now at novice with another to step up this year with an amateur rider. She is in Surrey but could easily provide recommendations. She trains with Jon Pitts and Lucinda Fredericks, Her vet thinks highly enough of her to send her one of his own horses to assess and see how far she can go. She may be starting off my youngster at BE this year if I can't get cracking as has already given him an excellent introduction XC and is beginning to build up a strong local reputation of someone who will take on sharp and quirky horses and bring them on, but kindly. Her website is EJTeventing.

Don't know if this helps but took this off her facebook page. The bay is her much loved boy who is aimed at 2* this year and has gone a very long way from the 4 year old who the dealer didn't think much of!
