He is lovely.

Bit of his background. He's a 6 yr old rsn once on the flat and too slow. Been through a rehab person who sold him to the teenager (and her mum!!) in January they haven't done much with him. A little lunging walk trot and canter and popping a few poles.

A little tricky to get on, especially when he sees something in the distance and spins lol!!

But once I was on he was lovely. Accepted the contact fairly well and could flex pretty well. He obviously still finds it hard work and wasn't the most forward which surprised me as he is pretty flighty on the ground.

I feel I need to work on the forward-ness more and get him in the outdoor as there's more space.

Ooh and quick question about kit. I've dug my sprengers out but am wondering if wintec webbers are any good?

The boy has a wintec gp saddle which seems to fit him well and I am pondering looking at a wintec isabell werth dressage saddle. Totally ott I know but I can afford it at the mo and I know they hold their value well. I always wanted to try one with my old boy but could never afford it.

Are they werth it? (Excuse the pun!!).

seems we are on the same horse path. Really pleased it went well for you today.
You've been luckier than me with the tack though. So far the saddle and bit have both been replaced and as you saw on my post, stirrups next.

Also got issues with mounting..won't stand and when I do eventually get on he shoots forwards and when I stop the forward momentum he shoots backwards after that though he's a sweetie and his owner is accusing me of calming him so much that he's turned into a donkey. I'm hoping that with the saddle improvement and new bit that he will soften his neck a little. Meanwhile I continue with his ground work in hand and schooling. I've got him to myself next week so I think I will dispense with the grackle too.

Ooh you found the post!! We crossed posted but on different posts lol!!

He is quite sensitive to touch so I'm not sure if its tension or he has very sensitive skin. Ears back when you touch him etc.

I did some ground work with him in the stable before tacking up and he was fairly good but after a bit if being grumpy and tail swishing. Inspired by your previous posts!!!

Bit wise he's in a full cheek straight bar happy mouth and seemed fairly happy in it when ridden but was a but 'yarpy' leading so more ground work needed. I've got a French link full cheek that might be good for him left over from my old old ex racehorse when I was a teenager. The joint might help a bit.

It's very exciting and I really like the family too. They're lovely.
