We have new field neighbours who have just brought a 6 acre field. At the moment its full of hay, they turned up with a garden strimmer to cut it but realised this was not going to work !! My hubby introduced himself and offered to give them farmers numbers etc. They are planning an Orchard, Wetland Pond, few chickens and possibly some sheep, also want to grow veg. This is agricultural land so I am not sure what they can do ! Does anybody have any idea ?? Our house overlooks this field so I am hoping it will not be too much of an eyesore !! Thanks for reading

Everything they want to do is agricultural as far as i can see, but will be on a small holder basis, so i can't see there is anything you can do, sorry.

I think the pond if it is excavated with a JCB counts as engineering works and therefore would require PP

the orchard, etc is agricultural but any sheds, etc that they put onto the land, if not mobile hen houses, could also require PP.

also they might put on a caravan for somewhere for shelter/coffee, etc. Some councils require PP for a caravan to be stored on a piece of land (i.e. stored = not for residential use).

There is a covenant on the land saying not to be used as a caravan site and no buildings to be erected. Would they need PP to put up a hedge between them and us ? Thanks guys.

The surrounding fields all belong to farmer and horse owners.

hedge requires no PP and hopefully they wouldn't be stupid enough to put yew or privet in any such planting.....

I hope not !! They admitted to my husband they did not have a clue what they were doing, just living their dream of owning some land. They live about 4o minutes away so if they want to keep chickens they are going to have to come up every day which in the winter wont be much fun !!!

I dont have a problem with an orchard or pond, bit worried about what hedge they might put in and how high it will get. They seem a nice couple, just wish they were horsey people

Just wanted to be sure what they were able to do. We have a super view from our house across the moors and would hate to loose it !!
