Hi,
can somebody tell me about the new forest ponies at the drift (wild ones)and what the sales are like, what happens at the sales, when are the sales? How much do the horses go for? filly or colt? what age? what transport would be best for them? peoples experiences would be great too.
id like to find this out because im thinking of buying a wild NF and just need some basic guidance.

any help would be grateful
xx

next sale is April, then August, then foals (born on the forest) start coming through the sales in September October and November. Foals can't be sold until they are minimum 4 months old. Prices low - minimum bid is 10 guineas, they were not insisting on that at the last sales.

Google southern counties auctioneers, they have reports from the sales which give average prices.

Not sure what you mean by what sort of transport would be best for them. They tend to arrive at the sales in cattle lorries or trailers, plus "normal" horse trailers too. Some are halter broken, some aren't, which will make a difference to how easy they are to get in the trailer.

Another one to google is New Forest Pony Publicity group, which will show you how some of these proper, forest bred NF ponies can turn out if they are given the right opportunities.
