Is anyone going? I am planning to go for the first time this year to watch. I am also tempted to try and do it on my part-bred NF next year. She is VERY fast and I think it could be a lot of fun.

Oh what is this? My dad lives in the new forest and I'm going to visit on boxing day. Sounds interesting.

It's a traditional point to point. The riders know the vicinity of the finish (Slufters this year) but don't know where they will start from. they will be taken to the start on the morning. To qualify your pony/part bred has had to have been colt hunting or hunting. You want to have Slipper in the bloodlines, he was a good racing pony.

Haven't missed a year since I was born except for the few times it's been cancelled.
We've got a youngster that we hope to enter in the next few years.
As many locals will proudly tell you the New Forest Boxing Day Point to Point is the only true point to point left in the country as there is no planned course. Competitors get told on Christmas Eve exactly where the finish will be and it's then up to them to get from A to B.
In previous years riders have approached the finish line from opposite directions having ridden a completely different route. Very exciting!

My friend is riding this year and sadly I'm missing all the action as visiting family for xmas . I'd much rather be watching the races that's for certain.

In only moved to the area at the end of October and am looking forwards to watching for the first time!
As I said I'd love to enter and although my TB would be fast he does have a drop of new forest blood in him!
Maybe the nice hack my other half is wanting to get will be my mount for the race next year!
