I want to buy two NF colt foals as weaning companions for another colt. Is it worth going to August's sale or are more foals sold in the September one? Am I correct in thinking that there is a NF Foal Show/Sale at the Beaulieu Road salesground in September? Having read the basics on the NF website I think that the established stallions run in the forest during June but the younger ones over winter to prove their hardiness and then come off the forest at the end of June so in theory there should be some weanlings around in August.

If I remember rightly (I haven't been for a couple of years) the August Sale is made up mainly of yearlings and the foals are in Sept after the show.

We bought a yearling in August a few years ago... I'm sure there were no foals.

Mmm... just read the sales calender again and it says that the pre-sale foal show is part of the October sale so does that mean that there probably won't be any foals at the September sale?
Where else can I get a couple of weaned colts from to play with my 5 month old warmblood colt (staying entire)? I wanted to get a couple of natives ideally but could have TB's or Warmbloods instead

I'm sure there are some foals in Sept... They release a catalogue before so you would be able to look.

Have a look on www.nfed.co.uk. you may find a weanling. Or call around the studs?

The stallions were only out during June last year and the sales won't accept any foal under 4 months old so this year's forest-bred foals shouldn't be at a sale before October. Stud-bred foals may well be at the September sale.

I thought I might be too early but when I read that the young stallions had overwintered on the forest and the stallions over 5yo were out during June I figureed that there might be a few early foals.
LauraWheeler I've emailed the person with the Welsh colts so fingers crossed they have something - thanks for the link.
If anyone knows of any weanlings or even a mare with a colt foal to be turned out with mine then please let me know. Mine was born 1st week of March and is already very independent so will wean next month but I'd like him to have company and we have no other colts at the moment.
