I looked into this for a horse with a terrible name once and was told it could be done if you had the written approval of the person who first passported the horse. This will probably depend on the individual breed society.

Agreed, none of the native registered breeds allow a name change (as far as I am aware)

He has a registered passported name, which the society as far as I am aware, will not permit you to change. I spend hours creating a name for mine. There is usually a good reason a pony has been given that particular one.

Yes, I've just checked the stud book on-line and couldn't find him so guessed he's not fully registered.

You'd have to contact the society. Best is by email as the office hours are limited. Burgundy passports are part bred, pink are non-registered.
