New Forests - tell me show me

Ok, will have a go at the photos, my mare is now 20, she has been with us for 8 years and has been a absolute star - she has wonderful manners and is extremely polite on the ground, but she is the most positive pony I have ever ridden, whatever pace you're doing she does it as fast as possible. She is cheap to kee, she has no hang-ups about anything, jumps, gallops, does speed dressage (!), loves endurance rides, wins M&M wh and ridden classes. She has been NPS Scotland best of Breed three times (and we don't do showing!) I am by no means young but she makes me smile every time I ride her

Get one, they are great characters and you will never regret it!

Sorry cannot get photobucket to copy and paste!!

I love New Forest ponies, full of character :o here my little man! I'm on the computer at work so can't provide any more decent photos sadly :(

I love him so much, he came to me at 10 months old, a total scruffbag, full of worms and I could fit my fingers between his ribs but he was all I could afford but he's turned in to a wonderful allrounder, he's just awesome, a kids or an adults ride, I'll never sell him, I'm using the excuse now that I'm saving him for my children!

wow, what's his breeding? his head is the spitting image of my bay roan nf!

some really stunning ponies on here! my last pony as a kid was a NFxTB and he was ace. I like these chunky 14.2s-where do you find them/what breeding to look out for? all the ones I see for sale seem pretty small.

His passport name is Longmead Kestrell II, his breeding is on allbreedpedigree if you want to investigate! He came straight off the forest.

Your roan must be stunning ;)

The chunkier ones are usually forest bred I think & I've seen a lot of NFs over 14hh.

New Forests are my addiction!

I currently have 2 stud bred boys. One is a rising 6yold entire Backley Touch of Gold by Willoway Double Gold, The other is a rising 4yold gelding Applewitch Mesmerise (full borther to Applewitch Magister) by Applewitch Pure Magic.

great all rounders, and 'all throughers' as in can go through any hedge, stable door, electric fence etc etc, 4 years of roaming the forest seems to have taught my friends pony that he is entitled to graze where ever he pleases, our field , next door, grass verge and if it involves going through a hedge and ditch to get there then so be it! on the plus side he is not scared of anything, traffic proof, cow proof sheep proof and carrier bag proof!
love him really but if he escapes one more time this week i may just tie him to tree!!! (joke);)

My first pony was a newforest, he was brilliant! One in a million pony. He went on loan when I moved upto horses, then the loaner didn't wish to have him any more as she wanted something faster (he was a very chilled chap!) I sadly had to sell him :-( the new owners then sold him on again! I would love to know where he is now and visit him. I think he would be about 13 now. I had him as a rising 3 year old in 2003. If any one knows him I would be grateful for a lead.
His passport name was Ashdene shepherds boy, stable name was shadow. Dark bay with black mane and tail. His father is smiler of sheep wash and his mother is Ashdene Mavis. Does a anyone know of him. Would be great for some news of his whereabouts, good or bad I will try and put a picture up.

New forest ponies are THE ultimate all rounder. Small enough for kids, but a decent stocky one is big enough for an adult.
Colt foal by Portmore Thundercloud. Solid, happy and very easy little chap. Actually wish I had kept him!

Sky....daughters pony. Ran the forest as a stallion, cut at 7 and as pushy as you like until taken to task. Cracking pony after six months hard work!

Oliver, part bred new forest and my absolute pride and joy. Easiest pony I have ever had, bought him at the BR sales as a 4 month old, and never given me a days trouble (other than being a bit thick!).
