Urgently need a new hat, and off to Badders on Saturday so should be able to get one there. Mine is over 2 years old and I have fallen on my head a few times in it

I really like the new, vented, bike helmetty type ones, in particular the Troxel one (in PINK!!) so I would get one of those...

....but then stinky pony and I will be going to some local shows this summer, so I should really get a sensible traditional hat, shouldn't I?!

But then I've read things saying the new style ones are safer?!

And if I do get a tranditional one for everyday use, will it fade? and get all dirty when I fall on my head?

BUT I guess I NEED one of the traditional ones for showing?!

Then I was thinking if I can get them cheap, get one of each?

but that's a bit greedy!

What's the cheapest I could get a traditional hat/skull cap (and velvet cover) for?!

What do I do?!

You can get skull caps for about £35 - £40 I think. The vented hats are quite nice, but if you had a pink one I'm not sure they'd think much to it when you're showing! lol! Pink hat....of all things! What are you like?

I'm having this dilemma too! I currently have a Charles Owen junior velvet hat (I'm actually 22, but these fit and are cheap so why not!) which is old and faded. Want to get a new black one to compete in (but this also means I need to buy a black jacket, another dilemma - what to get) and keep it just for comps, and then get that cool Champion Vent Air in the gold colour (so cool!) but can I justify spending over £150 on hats?!?!

*hatches evil plan to drag jumpthemoon around all the pinkest tradestands at badders*

I agree with ISH_Lover. If you get a pink Charles Owen Pro II you can still see the pink when you use it everyday, through the hat silk (and you wont look like an egg-head) but also get a velvet hat silk to cover the pink for shows, easy peasys!

Except its almost £100!

I looked into the charles owen pro in pink but couldnt justify spending it so i went for a harry hall elite £37.99 (free postage) and it fits like a glove.. also bought horsey new jump/overreach boots and jodhpurs and it still only came to £64.99!

Bargain!
